A brand new chalet located in a prime spot at the entrance of Chamonix, France - just a few moments from the ski slopes of Le Brévent - La Flégère. It sleeps 14. This luxurious chalet has been built with traditional rustic materials yet designed with a fresh, modern look. Parents will love the high-end facilities, the outdoor hot tub, the handy ski and boot rooms and the stunning décor throughout. The layout of the chalet means that it’s ideal for parents traveling with a nanny or au pair (who can use the separate TV room as a bedroom) and it’s also large enough for 2 or 3 families to visit together - the children won’t mind sharing these bedrooms! It’s within walking distance to the ski slopes as well as the center of Chamonix, so you can enjoy the après ski and simply saunter home.

Why Kids Love it

This is a real escape for kids of all ages. They’ll love the cozy bunk beds and the magical mezzanine beds where they can literally sleep under the stars, plus the enchanting mountain views that are straight out of a story book. It’s just 10 minutes’ walk to the nearest park and playground, as well as tennis courts, ice skating and outdoor amusements centers all nearby. The short walk to the slopes will suit even the littlest of legs and it’s close to the nursery slopes (the host can help with additional info about ski school). The hosts provide plenty of baby and toddler essentials too, including: a high chair, baby bath, baby monitor, changing table and stair gates - check with the hosts when booking to confirm your family’s needs.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. Rates range from 2100EUR to 3750EUR per night, with higher rates at weekends. Guests can use the private garage with direct access to the chalet via a ski and boot room. The chalet has an elevator (for practicality and child safety). Extra services such as breakfast, private chefs and childcare are available from the fantastic host concierge services - staff are off site. The chalet has air conditioning and TVs in all bedrooms, dishwasher, and WiFi. Please note there is no washer/dryer. Car rental is not essential as the location is just 900ft away. The Alaska Chalet is 1 of 3 chalets in an exclusive new hamlet (ask the hosts about booking the other chalets in addition).

About the Location

This property is located in Chamonix, France. The closest airport is only 1 hour by car (Geneva) and it’s 20 minutes’ walk (or 5 minutes’ drive) to Gare de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc train station. The chalet is located close to the public indoor and outdoor swimming pool (10 mins walk), which is a fun place to visit in both summer and winter season. Chamonix is also home to an amusement park, skate parks, paintball center and an outdoor adventure sports center. In the town you’ll find many supermarkets, shops and eateries. Biking trails, mountain walks, rock climbing and many more activities for the whole family are on your doorstep.

Accommodation Details

The chalet has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. On the ground floor there are 3 queensize bedrooms and 1 bunk bed room (with 4 single beds). Upstairs on the mezzanine area (above the living room) there are 3 single beds. All 5 rooms have ensuite bathrooms. Also on the upper floor, the open plan living area features a central fireplace, dining area (seating 14), cozy sofa area and access to the fully-equipped kitchen. A separate TV area is the perfect spot for a cozy night in after a day on the slopes. This room can also be converted into an additional bedroom if required (with a double sofabed) and has an ensuite bathroom. Outside, there’s a large south-facing sun terrace with panoramic views of the mountains, further outdoor dining area, sun loungers and a hot tub.

Style Notes

Contemporary cabin. This chalet-style residence has modern yet rustic décor, with high comfort levels and a traditional Alpine feel. Rustic natural wood textures are used throughout for the furnishings, contrasted with contemporary granite bathrooms. The charming wood textures are welcoming yet stylish, used for everything from kitchen cabinets to bed frames. The sun terraces offer panoramic Mont Blanc views and the south-facing aspect means that the windows are flooded with natural sunshine all year round. We love the unique central fireplace which divides the dining area and living area, the traditional stone-walled exterior and the simple yet stylish mid-century furniture in the living room.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
Terms and conditions
The daily cleaning and end of stay clean is included in the price. A security deposit of EUR15k will be held by the host.

In winter, ski schools take kids from age 3, and plenty of activities take place on and off the slopes for all the family; when the snow has melted there are hiking trails, marmot paths, art clubs and mountain bike trails through the trees and around the valley. Cable cars offer panoramic views of the mountains and pretty alpine towns all around.
