A stylish and fun coastal residence, with a gorgeous pool and hot tub, just minutes’ walk from the beach. It sleeps 4 + 2. Set on Folly Beach ‘barrier island’, guests are a just short drive away from historic Charleston with its buzzing restaurant and cultural scene. There are plenty of activities on the doorstep too with the local beach just 2 blocks away, offering up kayaking, surfing, sailing and fishing. Some of the best restaurants in town are easily walkable, and there’s a host of entertainment to keep all ages happy, including independent stores, an arcade and ice cream parlors. For laid back days at home there’s the lovely pool, with a connected hot tub for parents to relax in while the kids splash around. For leisurely post-swim lunches, or dinners, there’s a shaded alfresco dining table or a fully equipped kitchen-diner inside. The porch area and backyard are fully fenced for additional peace of mind for those with younger ones.
Why Kids Love it
Kids will love the playful décor at this thoughtfully curated beach pad, complete with colorful coastal design and an excellent porch swing bench for real chill out time. The pool and backyard have plenty to entertain, from pool floats and toys for water-based games, to a giant connect four set, and an Astro turf for running off energy. For inside play, there are puzzles and games, as well as a cute lounge area with a TV for movie time. Beach loving kids have the ocean just minutes’ walk away with plenty of water and sand-based fun on offer including surfing and kayaking. Active families can hire bikes locally to explore the coast or take the short ride into town where there’s an Escape Room, ice cream parlors and an arcade at Coconut Joe’s.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 3 nights during peak season, 2 nights during non-peak. Please note that the pool is ungated so younger ones should be supervised whilst outside. The backyard and the porch are fully fenced, and there’s a porch gate to restrict access to the garden when needed. There are some stairs from the back door down to the pool, and from the porch. There's a sofabed in the living room which can be made up as a double bed to accommodate additional guests; please let the hosts know if this is required at time of booking. There is WiFi and air conditioning throughout. Please note, there is no bathtub. There’s free parking available for 2 cars. About the Location
The residence is located in Folly Beach, South Carolina, locally referred to as ‘Charleston’s beach town’ being only a 20-minute drive away. The house is just 2 blocks (2 minutes’ walk) from the beach, and five blocks from town where there’s an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes, grocery stores and entertainment, including Folly Beach pier. Hire bikes and cycle the scenic coastal path down to Morris’ lighthouse in one direction, or Folly Beach Country Park which has picnic areas and a pelican rookery in the other (both take around 15 minutes). For guests wishing to visit historic Charleston, it’s around 20 minutes’ away by car with a walkable downtown area including some excellent restaurants, museums and a waterfront park. The closest airport is Charleston International, around a 40-minute drive.
Accommodation Details
The residence has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom set over 1 floor. There are a few steps up to the front entrance; once inside there’s an open plan living-kitchen-dining room with a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and a coffee machine, a dining table seating 6, and a cozy living area over the other side with a sofabed and a TV. Doors provide access to the both the back and front yards from here. The bedrooms are located through doors either side of the living area; the primary comes with a queensize bed, while the cute second bedroom has 2 single beds. They share a family sized bathroom with a huge walk-in shower. Outside space includes a fenced in patio/porch area with a swing bench and additional seating, and a beautiful palm tree clad back yard with an Astro turf area including games, a hammock and a dining table, a sun deck with 4 sun loungers and a large pool with a hot tub.
Style Notes
Contemporary coastal. This charming cottage has been characterfully renovated by its owners to showcase bright, modern, beachside style. The walls are filled with playful art works including surf and skateboards, wire sculpture and sea themed paintings, offset by colorful patterned tiles in the gorgeous bathroom and porch area. Rope and rattan weave through the furnishings and lighting, complimented by whitewashed shiplap to create a laid-back beachy vibe throughout. Outside, the beach pad curation continues with a palm-clad oasis of a pool area including an inbuilt jacuzzi and plenty of chill out space on the sun deck. We love the pops of color in the twin bedroom with rainbow cushions and playful flamingo art works, and the laid-back primary bedroom with its wooden driftwood mirror and relaxed beach life style.
