Nature-focused and light-filled. This traditional home with lush, shaded backyard is family-focused and serenely decorated with reflections of nature throughout. Children's rooms are cozy, sweet, and inviting, and the whole home has a Pottery Barn influence and 'Pinterest DIY' feel to it. Our family loves to hike, sing, play music, and spend quality time with friends. We enjoy running through Bidwell Park and our two young boys spend much of their time outside or reading from their extensive book collection. Our favorite travel destinations take us further into the outdoors and getting to know new cultures and people. We joined Kid & Coe in hopes to exchange homes with families from around the world.

Chico, Sierra Nevada Foothills

Trees, culture and city parks

Butte County's biggest city, 1.5 hours north of Sacramento, is known for its trees, culture and city parks. On the edge of the Sacramento Valley, the city limits reach into the Sierra Nevada foothills and there are plenty of hiking trails nearby. Don't miss the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation if your kids like big snakes and bigger cats, the unique playground at Caper Acres, and the city's Saturday farmer's market for a taste of the local area.

Our three favorite things about this home: 1. Wonderful hosts, very thoughtful and helpful; 2. Perfectly suited to and well-equipped for young children; 3. Fantastic location just steps from Bidwell park and a stone's throw from other great activities as well. Chico is a wonderful town for little kids and families, and the close proximity of the large creek is refreshing on a warm summer/fall day. We enjoyed evening stargazing in Bidwell park, hanging out at swimming holes in the creek, and lounging around the house by playing in the backyard or watching movies on the projection screen. This house isn't a rental that feels sterile and un-lived in - it feels more like you're staying at a friend's house while they're away. It's also nestled in a cul-de-sac, so very nice and safe for playing outside.

We had an amazing stay at the Lilac Lane Residence in Chico! Even in the heat of the summer, our kids were able to play in the well-shaded backyard and loved having the hot tub (or warm tub, as my 4 year old called it!) to splash around in. They also loved all the toys and books and having movie night every night on the projection screen. We explored a different nearby swimming hole on each day of our stay and had a thoroughly wonderful trip. We'd definitely stay here again and hope to come back and explore Chico even more, when Covid is under control.
