Create a luxurious yet sustainable beach break at the beautiful Sublime Comporta resort, just over an hour from Lisbon. The largest villa sleeps 10. There’s a spa and wellness center, offering bespoke beauty treatments, yoga sessions, tennis lessons or personal training experiences. The hotel’s organic garden grows over 300 varieties of herbs, vegetables and plants which are used in the restaurants and in the spa - providing a unique and natural experience inspired by this beautiful region. The hotel even has its own wines, which can be enjoyed at the hotel or back at home (European shipping can be arranged).

Why Kids Love it

There are 4 swimming pools (including 1 dedicated for children) as well as a forest garden and an orchard to explore. Children under 16 can enjoy the Spa indoor swimming pool during the daily Happy Hour (10-11am) and must be supervised by an adult. Teens aged from 12 to 16 are allowed to experience selected spa treatments with parental supervision too. The big draw here is the miles of sandy beaches nearby: for older kids and strong swimmers, there’s a surf school and surf shop in the local village.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 or 3 nights, depending on the time of year. Check in: 3pm, check out: 12pm. The hotel restaurant, Sem Porta, is open for breakfast and dinner (and offers a children’s menu). The outdoor eatery, Tasca da Comporta, is open for lunch and dinner and there’s also an all-day bar in the hotel and at the pool. For a luxurious adults-only farm-to-table dining experience, book The Food Circle for dinner (reservation only, Tuesday to Saturday). Bikes are available to rent from the hotel team to explore the area. All rooms include AC, underfloor heating, TV, WiFi, mini bar, 24-hour reception, free parking and electric vehicle charging. The private pools in villas are not heated.

About the Location

The hotel is nestled on a stunning 17-hectare estate, surrounded by trees, sand dunes, rice fields and white-sand beaches. It’s 15 minutes’ drive from the village of Comporta and the beaches which run up and down the coast, or 5 minutes’ drive to the nearest supermarket in Carvalhal. The Sublime Comporta Beach Club is located in Carvalhal Beach (10 minutes’ drive) where you can book a sun bed or table in the restaurant. There are also restaurants at Pego Beach or Comporta Beach. The area is known for its beautiful natural scenery and wildlife - ask the hotel about dolphin spotting, bird watching, horseback riding, sailing, surfing, wine tasting or golf nearby. It’s around 1.5 hours away from Lisbon airport.

Accommodation Details

The hotel has 23 rooms and suites plus 22 villas. The Owners House building (rooms and suites for 2) is for adults only.
Guests suite: located in a separate building on the property. Designed as open spaces with mezzanines and high ceilings they all have a private deck with an outstanding view of the resort’s garden. A full bathroom with rain shower is located on the second story of the mezzanine (note there is a staircase), leaving more free space in the bedroom and living area. All suites have a sofa bed which enables a stay for 2 adults and 2 children up to the age of 12. For guests' comfort, the suites include a small bathroom on the ground floor. (Sleeps 4, 38m2 + 12m2 of terrace).
Bio-pool suite: 9 cabanas built overlooking one of Europe's largest biological pools, including private terraces that allow guests a direct plunge into the freshwater. The water is solely treated with aquatic plants, no chemicals are used - it’s a true living ecosystem and as such, different species of plants and animals coexist in perfect harmony. For more sensitive guests, the hotel can provide earplugs if the sounds of nature interrupt your sleep! Each suite includes a king size bed, sitting area with a salamander and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and a freestanding bathtub. (Sleeps 2, 50m2 + 25m2 deck).
Cabana room: located in a 2-bedroom villa, these large rooms have kingsize beds and were designed to offer the experience of waking up amidst the natural surroundings. (Sleeps 2, 50m2 + 15m2 deck).
Cabana suite: part of a 2 bedroom villa, these suites are made up of a cabana room plus a main cabana, which includes a living room, dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and guest bathroom. The bedroom includes a kingsize bed (some of which are adaptable to twins), a bathroom with rain shower and a stunning freestanding bathtub with garden views. It also includes an indoor/outdoor fireplace as well as a private pool and deck. (Sleeps 2, 110m2 + 50m2 deck).
Villa Room standard/master/sublime: located in one of the cabana villas, these rooms include a kingsize bed (adaptable to twin beds), a bathroom with rain shower and underfloor heating. True to the 'cabana' concept, each room is separate within the villa, but shares a common entrance and has access to all shared common spaces with other guests staying in the same villa (entrance hall, outdoor deck and pool). (Sleeps 2, 25m2).
Two-bedroom cabana villa: a contemporary take on Comporta’s traditional cabana houses, they include 2 cabana rooms with ensuite bathrooms (each with a stunning, large freestanding bathtub and rain showers), a spacious living room and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen and guest bathroom. They also include an indoor/outdoor fireplace as well as a private pool and 3 decks. (Sleeps 4, 160m2 + 3,000m2 outdoor space).
Three-bedroom cabana villa: each of these cabana villas has a private pool and includes 3 bedrooms (one master and 2 standard suites), each with its own separate entrance, private terrace and ensuite bathroom. With floor-to-ceiling windows maximizing the stunning views of the property, the large living room includes a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and a guest bathroom as well as a beautiful, suspended, indoor fireplace. (Sleeps 6, 230m2 + 7,000m2 outdoor space).
Four-bedroom cabana villa: each of these villas have a private pool, as well as 4 bedrooms (2 master and 2 standard suites) each with its own separate entrance, private terrace and ensuite bathroom. The villas have the same living space, dining area, kitchen and guest bathroom as the 2-bedroom villas, together with an indoor fireplace and a large private deck area. (Sleeps 8, 290m2+ 7,000m2 outdoor space).
Five-bedroom cabana villa: the largest room type available, these villas have 5 bedrooms (1 master and 4 standard suites), each with its own separate entrance, a private pool, large deck and a guest bathroom, as well as the same living/dining/kitchen spaces as the smaller villas. (Sleeps 10, 290m2 + 7000m2 of outdoor space).

Style Notes

Laid-back luxury. The entire resort is decorated with relaxed and rustic materials, neutral tones and a beach-inspired look to create a calming space for your vacation. Tranquil and simple, the space is inspired by the relaxed nature of the surrounding region: this unspoiled part of Portugal is known for its ‘slow living’ and traditional feel. The resort’s rooms and villas are spread over low-level buildings to blend in with the scenery, and are designed as small cabanas to complement the surrounding architecture. We love the grass fringed lampshades in the kitchen/dining areas of the villas, the smart contemporary fireplaces and the exposed wood-built feature headboards.
