The property is in an unparalleled location on the coast of Carvalhal; one of the closest houses to the beach in the entire region. Being right on Carvalhal beach you’ll have access to 2 of the region’s most famous beachside restaurants (Sublime Beach Club and Sal’s Restaurant) where you can try the region’s outstanding seafood cuisine. What’s more, the property consists of a main house and an apartment on the second floor, so it’s ideal for parents traveling with grandparents or a nanny.

Why Kids Love it

The pool is going to be a big hit with the kids and they’ll love being just a short walk away from the sandy beaches, which are shallow and safe for families. The beach dunes provide epic spots for sand-surfing and they can even take surf lessons on the Atlantic. Further up the coast in Troia you can join a boat tour to travel down the Comporta coastline and spot the family of dolphins which inhabit this region. For parents traveling with babies or toddlers, the host can provide a high chair and crib on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights in low season, 7 nights in high season. Safety notes: the swimming pool is not gated so young children should be supervised outdoors. The pool is not heated. There is 1 parking space for a small car - car rental is advised as there is almost no public transport in the area. There is air conditioning and heating installed in every bedroom, plus a fireplace in the living room for the cooler months.

About the Location

The house is located in Carvalhal, one of the most exclusive and desirable areas of the Comporta region, just a few minutes’ walk through sand dunes to stunning sandy beaches. The western side of the house leads to the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, while to the east you’ll find the green, flat rice fields (look out for storks hunting for fish, frogs, and crabs). The nearby village of Carvalhal (half an hour walk or a 5-minute drive) is quieter and more beach-focused than its famous neighbor Comporta (15 minutes’ drive). There are authentic restaurants, exclusive hotels and quaint shops with even more boutiques and restaurants in nearby Comporta. The rustic beach town of Melides is also just 20 minutes away by car.

Accommodation Details

The property has 4 kingsize bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in total. The main house features a terrace, small pool, patio garden and an outdoor shower. There are 3 bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bathroom, while the other 2 share a bathroom. The fully-equipped kitchen and living area are open-plan, creating a spacious atmosphere. The indoor dining table seats up to 8 people, while the outdoor table can accommodate up to 10 guests. The apartment is on the upper floor, accessed via an external staircase, creating a private space. It features an open concept layout with a bedroom, kitchen and relaxation area, as well as a bathroom and a rooftop terrace. The windows throughout the house are fitted with shutters and mosquito screens. Please note there are no bathtubs, only showers.

Beach Cottage core. Originally a fisherman’s house (thus the name), this charming property is beautifully decorated, blending a laid-back beachy feel with a contemporary European design aesthetic. Natural textures and rustic materials are used to create a laid-back feel, with warm tones of red and earthy pinks for depth and comfort. We love the bold red dresser in the hallway, the stunning Moroccan-inspired outdoor shower area and the quirky striped tiles in the kitchen.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
