Perks for the Parents

A laid-back yet contemporary beach house on Portugal’s beautiful Atlantic coast, just 1 hour south of Lisbon. It sleeps 8. This calm retreat is the perfect place for parents to get away from it all. The delightful garden is visited by beautiful Parus birds eating berries from the land, which you can view from the private outdoor terrace or wooden deck. Choose from cozy sun loungers around the private pool or giant outdoor cushions to relax in the sunshine and gaze up at the stars. For family meals, there’s a barbecue and an inviting alfresco lounge area under a pergola where you can enjoy some dappled shade surrounded by beautiful, natural scenery.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the colorful children’s bunk room where they can share with siblings, cousins or friends as well as the private swimming pool (10 x 4 m, with a depth of 1 - 1.4m). This is a great location for families who love the outdoors. There are watersports galore and amazing boat trips from the Troia marina to watch dolphins, as well as lots of wildlife including beautiful flamingos and tall storks. There are several surf schools at the beaches and horse riding is popular as children can ride through the rice fields or along the beach. You can even try kayaking through the rice fields of Comporta - ask the hosts about local services or organized trips.

Things to Know

A security deposit of €1,000 is charged to the guest’s credit card before arrival and refunded 2 weeks after departure, subject to full inspection. Check in: 4pm. Check out: 10am. End of stay cleaning is €250 to be paid locally by cash or bank transfer on arrival. Tourist tax is included in the price. Sorry, no pets allowed. The hosts can provide additional services on request for an additional fee, including: cleaning (3 hours per day at €45 per day or €315 per week, not Sundays), bicycle hire (€20 per day or €100 per week), buggy hire (€350 per week), a crib (€6 per day or €42 per week), high chair (€4 per day or €28 per week), extra beds (€50 per day or €300 per week).

About the Location

The house is located between Praia de Carvalhal and Praia dos Brejos beaches, just 1 hour south of Lisbon on the Atlantic coast. With fine golden sand, gorgeous dunes and surrounding fragrant pine forests, this is a truly beautiful and laid-back location known for its surf, watersports, hiking and fabulous beach restaurants. The nearest village is Carvalhal, which has a good selection of antique shops, boutiques, mini-markets, bars, cafes and restaurants. Nearby Comporta offers an excellent array of activities including horse riding, fishing, hunting, sailing, bird watching and cycling. Troia is also very popular, with its excellent championship golf course, a bustling marina, spas and a casino. The capital city of Lisbon (and the international airport) is roughly 1 hour 15 minutes away by car.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. The living space is open plan in design with all areas enjoying gorgeous garden and countryside views. The living area boasts sumptuous sofas and chairs where guests can relax with views of the garden, swimming pool and the pine forest beyond. Tucked around the corner is the stunning kitchen and dining area. The glossy white kitchen sits at one end with excellent appliances and a sociable breakfast bar with stools. Next to the kitchen is a large dining table with colorful chairs. These look out to the garden and doors open to an alfresco dining terrace and outdoor kitchen area. Two of the bedrooms have kingsize beds, the third has 2 singles and the final children’s bedroom boasts twin beds plus a set of bunk beds (with terrace access). The bathrooms feature walk-in showers or giant bathtubs.

Style Notes

Industrial meets boho. Stride barefoot across cool concrete floors in this strikingly minimalistic house. Vaulted ceilings and massive picture windows produce a sense of space, while splashes of vibrant colors add a sense of warmth. Stunning glass architecture and floor-to-ceiling doors allow the interior and exterior to be seamlessly integrated, inviting the natural outdoor scenes into the home. We love the industrial-style concrete ceilings, the ultra-modern fireplace in the living room and the bohemian hammock bed in the garden.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 12 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 12 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 12 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
A non-refundable 30% deposit is required to make a booking (or full payment if booking within 12 weeks of arrival). If you have paid a deposit, the final balance is payable 12 weeks prior to the commencement of the holiday. Once this has been paid, it is non-refundable.
