Perks for the Parents

Perfect for gatherings and getaways, this grand country house in Cornwall is full of period charm and just a short drive from some of the best surfing beaches in the UK. It sleeps 18. Relax in the cozy library with a good book, hit the on-site gym or take a walk around 22 acres of beautiful grounds - this is a delightful countryside retreat for parents looking to get away from it all. It’s also just a short drive from the beach, where you’ll find golden sandy shores and surfing waves on Newquay beach - one of the most desirable coastlines in the country come summer. For multi-generational trips, there’s a separate 1-bedroom cottage within the grounds which is ideal for grandparents, a nanny or an au pair.

Why Kids Love it

Children will love bouncing on the trampoline, playing games of tennis on the courts and trying out croquet on the lawn. Kids of all ages can explore the expansive woods and gardens, including the Victorian walled garden which produces fruit and vegetables. It’s 10 minutes’ walk to Dairyland Farm Park, where kids can try out amusement rides, pony or tractor rides, feed animals or explore giant play areas. In nearby Newquay, there’s a park and playground, skate park, zoo, public swimming pool, aquarium, adventure golf and more, as well as children’s surf lessons on the beach.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights over holidays, changeover day is Saturday. Three nights at other times of the year. Guests can access the property after 4pm for arrival. The estate houses another 6-bedroom building (available to rent separately) so the outdoor areas are shared. There is plenty of parking - car rental is essential in this area. The hosts can provide a whole host of concierge services on request, including: a private chef who lives onsite and can be booked to cook meals for guests, garden tours with the site gardener, local winery tours, fishing trips, additional housekeeping, other events and special retreats. There is a large pond/small lake so younger children should be supervised outdoors. High chairs and cribs available on request.
