Perks for the Parents

This stunning contemporary villa features an architect-designed open plan layout, a private heated pool, and beautiful sea views. It sleeps 10 + 2. Situated within 5 acres of land and nestled in an olive grove, this unique villa has been featured in several magazines and exhibitions due to its outstanding style. Full of luxury touches, it offers amazing views of the sea, beach, and mountains, with a spectacular outdoor deck at the end of a long foot bridge. You can explore the beautiful gardens, full of lush trees and Cretan herbs, or simply lounge by the pool, enjoying the gentle coastal breeze. It’s less than 5 minutes’ walk to the sandy beach, which has a traditional Cretan restaurant for you to sample some of the local cuisine, and just half an hour to Chania for a choice of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love exploring this large garden and splashing around in the pool - there is also an outdoor table tennis table as well as a foosball table for kids to enjoy. For some chill-out time, the kids can enjoy the hosts Satellite TV, 3D movies, and Playstation with many games provided. Ask the hosts about local outdoor activities, such as kayaking, padddle-boarding, or boat hire from one of the many nearby beaches and coves. This residence can also be set up for parents with babies or toddlers: hosts can provide a crib, high chair, baby toys, baby bath, and children’s utensils on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Rentals generally run from Saturday to Saturday in high season (June, July, and August). The villa is located on the same estate as 2 smaller properties, Loutraki Beach II Residence, which are both private properties. Crete is still enjoyable in low season (November to March) at a reduced rate. The pool is heated from March through November at an extra cost. Rates include maid service, linen change, electricity, water, C, VAT & City taxes. Rates does not include hot tub electricity cost (200 euro per week).Safety notes: the villa has stair gates available on request, as well as corner guards but it is set over 3 levels so toddlers may need additional help. The ground floor has direct access to the garden so young children should always be supervised. Ask the hosts for additional services, including a private chef or babysitting. The villa comes with air conditioning, dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, DVD player, DVD library, and WiFi. Parking is available onsite, car hire is recommended to explore the area.

About the Location

This property is located in Loutraki, a small cove on the southern tip of the Akrotiri peninsula in Chania, Crete. It’s around 15 minutes’ drive to Chania international airport. The beach and local restaurant are both just 2 minutes’ walk from the villa - it is protected from strong winds and ideal for families. There are also more beaches to explore within Marathi Bay. Nearby are some restaurants and a small village with a pharmacy, a bakery and a mini market. The bustling city of Chania (25 minutes’ drive) has a picturesque harbor, lots of restaurants, shops, and museums. Crete is well known for being a family-friendly vacation destination - there is a water park half an hour away, as well as boat trip excursions and historical monuments to explore.

Accommodation Details

The villa has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. The main entrance (on the middle floor) is accessed via a 100-foot long bridge, with a living area and fully-equipped kitchen. The upper floor includes a primary bedroom (with ensuite bathroom, queensize bed, and sea views), plus 2 more queensize bedrooms sharing a spacious bathroom. The ground floor (with garden access) includes 2 more large queensize bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms. Outside, the foot bridge leads to a terrace overlooking the sea, and there are 5 acres of landscaped gardens.

Style Notes

Contemporary beach house. The residence has been designed by Aristomenis Varoudakis, one of the most famous architects in Crete, using local materials including wood, stone and glass combined with traditional yet modern craftsmanship. It is an architectural delight, featuring airy rooms with large windows, bringing the outside in and flooding the open plan spaces with light and sea views. The interiors mix simple elegance and beautiful design with comfort and luxury, creating a calming and relaxing space. We love the rustic exposed walls in the living area, the luxury marble finishes in the bathrooms, and the use of natural woods creating a ‘treehouse’ feel.

Crete, Greek Islands

Ruins, rocky outcrops and rural charm

Off the southern coast of mainland Greece, beautiful Crete is the largest of the islands, packed with rural charm, archeological sites and fabulous mountains - a land where shepherds still tend their flocks wearing traditional dress. Blow the kids’ minds at the enormous Samariá Gorge, tantalize them with tales of ancient civilization, and check out the cave where Zeus was said to have been born.
