The perfect base for parents seeking a relaxing, peaceful hideaway but with amenities on the doorstep. The villa is tucked away amongst olive, lemon and orange groves but is just a short walk into the pretty seaside town of Almyrida where guests can pick up fresh bread from the bakery or dine out in one of the excellent seafront tavernas. There are 3 beaches here with sand and pebble options, as well as water sports for those seeking activities. For laid-back days in, the villa caters for all the family with plenty of space to relax and a separate games room for the kids, giving parents some well-deserved time for themselves. The outdoor infinity pool is the perfect place to cool off with stunning views of Souda Bay, and is in full view of the terrace so parents can keep an eye on younger ones while chilling out themselves. The sleek glass balconied terrace offers alfresco dining with divine, uninterrupted views from all sides and a rustic brick barbecue for grilling local delicacies.

Kids will find a rustic wonderland to play in here, with ancient olive groves perfect for garden games and picnics, and views that will make them feel on top of the world. The villa is kitted out with plenty to entertain with a good-sized pool for splashing around, a games room with table tennis and TV as well as a TV with DVD player in the sitting room upstairs, perfect for movie nights in. For kids who enjoy helping out with the cooking, there’s a fantastic outdoor grill area, perfect for barbecuing a fresh catch of the day or other local produce picked up from the town. For water-loving kids, there are 3 gently shelving beaches a short walk away, perfect for all ages from little paddlers to confident swimmers. The clear waters are ideal for snorkeling while for those seeking higher energy action, there’s a variety of watersports on offer including kayaking and windsurfing, with tuition available for beginners. Teenagers are welcome at the town’s low-key bars which are easily accessible on foot and sufficiently close for parent’s peace of mind.

Things to Know

Minimum stay 7 nights. Please note that there is an ungated pool which younger children should be supervised around. Bath and pool towels are included in the rental. There is air conditioning and WiFi throughout the villa. A washing machine, open utility space, ironing facilities, hairdryer and barbecue are included. Car hire, child seats and booster seats are available for an additional charge on request. The host’s concierge team can additionally help arrange in-house extras such as chefs/catering, babysitting/childcare services, airport transfers and taxi bookings. About the Location

The villa is located in Western Crete, in an elevated spot between the White mountains and pretty Souda Bay. It overlooks the seaside town of Almyrida which has 3 beaches and water sports as well as bakeries, a supermarket and beachside tavernas just a 15-minute walk downhill or a 5 minute car journey away. There are taxis back for guests who prefer not to walk both ways. The inland villages of the Apokronos, including Plaka and Gavalochori are under 10 minutes’ drive away while Chania town, with its Venetian harbour, market and excellent shops and restaurants, is 35 minutes’ away by car. Boat hire is available from Kalves a 5 minute drive away. The inland freshwater lake Kournas is a 35 minute drive away and is perfect for swimming and picnics with the opportunity to visit various vineyards and olive groves enroute. The airport (at Chania) is a 30 minute drive.

Accommodation Details

This property has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms set over 2 floors. The spacious ground floor of the villa is light and open-plan. The living area comes with comfy sofas, TV and DVD player and sweeping glass doors onto the outside terrace. On the opposite side of the room is a dining table seating 6 next to a landscape picture window with mountain views. The kitchen area is just behind and comes fully-equipped including a microwave, coffee machine and dishwasher. The primary bedroom is on this floor at the far side of the house and has a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom and direct access to the terrace with its wonderful coastal views. The second bedroom next door can be made up as a twinsize room or double, with 2 singlesize beds and a shower room accessible just across the hall. Downstairs is a further 3rd bedroom with 2 singlesize beds which can also be made up to form a double. This is an ideal kids’ bedroom as it adjoins the games/sitting room next door with its table tennis table, TV and sofa area. There is an additional shower room accessible from the games room as well as an open utility space with a washing machine. The garden space comprises of a shaded outdoor veranda with seating and glass balcony, leading down to a sun terrace with sun loungers and a 6m x 4m infinity pool. The terrace continues to the side where there’s a dining table seating 6, and a wraparound glass balcony allowing uninterrupted views from all sides.

Olive, lemon and orange trees surround the villa setting a very Mediterranean scene with the mountains in the distance on one side and the azure waters of the coast on the other. The pretty outdoor terraces and the stylish infinity pool complete the idyllic picture, offering the perfect space to relax into the gentle pace of Cretan life. We love the alfresco dining terrace where there’s no need to jostle for the best seat in the house with breath-taking views to be had on all sides. Dining is a joy here with a gorgeous barbecue area and a fully-equipped kitchen to whip up family feasts worth savoring.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
If cancelled 61-300 days before arrival, 30% of the total booking amount will be retained as a cancellation fee. If cancelled 0 – 60 days before arrival, 100% charge of the total booking amount will be retained. In addition to the host’s policy which is listed here, all cancellations are subject to a Kid & Coe cancellation fee of 10% of the booking total.
