Perks for the Parents

This stylish home with a spectacular playroom and spacious living areas would be perfect for a family with young children. It sleeps 4 + 2. This home is spacious enough for everyone to spread out and relax. Parents can put the kids to bed and watch a movie without worrying about waking up sleeping kids. The hosts love cooking - the kitchen is professionally equipped and easy to use. (Plus coffee lovers will be happy to find a Jura machine, always filled with fresh beans from the local coffee shop.) The upstairs terrace is private and perfect for the warm summer nights - and if you’re lucky something from the small garden might be ready to harvest. The city center is a 10-minute tram ride away for access to Amsterdam Museum, Artis Royal Zoo and canal walks. Rent a bike, tiptoe through tulips or plan a day at the beach - Amsterdam is a city full of delights.

Why Kids Love it

This home has more toys than a toy store. The hosts have transformed the playroom into a space where kids can exhaust their energy and let their imagination run wild. The space is comfortable enough for parents to join their kids in play or sit quietly on the couch and read. For family nights indoors, there are plenty of games for all ages and an incredible selection of curated kids books. It's also a very infant friendly apartment, with a high chair, children’s dinnerware, crib and baby bath available on request. The doors to the balconies are locked for child safety but can be unlocked at your request if your kids are old enough to be safe here. When they’re ready to explore the city, take the kids around the local district, with its family-friendly cafes, play parks and delightful petting zoo.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The price listed is per night for up to 4 adults with an additional charge for every adult over that number. The apartment is located on the 4th and 5th floor of the building and there is an elevator. The floor is very kid friendly and the neighbors are very kind - when the sun is out you’ll often find friendly neighbors outside. For stays of more than 1 week the hosts will provide a cleaner, and the sheets and towels are changed weekly. The hosts are happy to recommend trusted and loved babysitters. The house is non-smoking and pet free. The hosts only use neutral and perfume-free detergent for laundry. Free parking and bike racks are available upon advanced request. Car rental is not necessary here as it’s centrally located and the public transport is fast and reliable. WiFi access along with a computer and printer is available for your use during your stay.

About the Location

This residence is located in the Oud West neighborhood of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Oud West is one of the best neighborhoods in Amsterdam: it’s family friendly and you can be almost anywhere in Amsterdam in just a short time. Behind the house there’s a nature playground (a hidden gem!) where kids can climb rocks, play soccer and run around in a mini forest. It’s within walking distance of the local outdoor market and food hall, and the neighborhood also boasts playgrounds tucked around all different areas, plus one of the best shopping streets with a gluten-free store and tons of other food options. There’s even a small boutique hotel with cocktails and thai food right below the building, as well as a restaurant on the same square. Schiphol Airport is under 30 minutes away by car or taxi. The Airport Express bus leaves from the city center and takes 30 mins, the direct train will take between 15 - 20 mins.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Being on the 4th floor, there is plenty of light and the sun follows you from one side of the house to the other during the day. Even if you happen to visit Amsterdam on a rainy day, you’ll be more than entertained in this home. On the main floor is the guest room (with double bed and Coco Mat topper - metal free and made of natural materials), laundry area, a full bathroom (including shower and bathtub), a half bathroom, the living/dining room and the kitchen. The second floor has the primary bedroom (with a Coco Mat kingsize mattress), as well as the kids’ bedroom (with bunk beds), a play room and also a full bathroom with a shower. The hosts can also transform the couches in the playroom into a double bed or 2 single beds on request, but they will generally only accept bookings from groups containing up to 4 adults. There is also 1 crib available.

Style Notes

Colorful contemporary. This home is cozy and comfortable, with a colorful mix of modern art, passed-down family pieces and items picked up from the hosts’ travels. The apartment is designed to make you feel at home from the moment you arrive, from the oversized family couch, the luxurious window seat in the kitchen and the amazing playroom for the kids. We love the bright and modern feel, the large windows allowing light to flood into the rooms and the quirky kid-friendly touches, from the fun costume wall and the climbing area to the unique forest wall mural.

I'm an American living in Amsterdam with a Dutch husband and 2 Dutchmerican kids. I'm a born and raised Houstonian, I'm crazy about BBQ, Shiner Bock beer, and fried food. I love sharing my favorite spots in Amsterdam (and everywhere else) with family, friends, and guests.

Oud-West, Amsterdam

Handsome houses and street markets

This area of the city is 10-minutes to the east of downtown and is known for its handsome houses, busy shopping streets and street markets. It's close to the Vondelpark and is a great place for a family, with good restaurants and terraces for people-watching. It's also known for having the highest concentration of coffee bars in the city.

Elizabeth’s home was even prettier than the photos, and we couldn’t be happier with our stay! They have made their home a wonderland for their kids, and my kids called it the highlight of our entire multi-country trip. Thank you Elizabeth!

We had a great stay in Amsterdam. The house is very beautiful and very pleasant. We really enjoyed staying at Elisabeth's house. The children were very happy, because the play area was great. Lots of games. It was magical for the children. The kitchen, dining room and living room were very pleasant spaces. Big and bright. Elisabeth is very available and very good advice. It is very pleasant and very helpful in preparing for our visit. We will come back with pleasure and advise you to come and discover Amsterdam with Elisabeth.

My review is simple. Stay here. Do everything Elizabeth says. Have a wonderful time. And buy Anne Frank tickets in advance.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home... it was spacious and comfortable and the kids were thrilled with the selection of toys! The playroom was really nice as it gave the kids an area to play on their own, slightly separate from the grown ups. Elizabeth was an excellent host and very helpful from the planning of our trip through to the end.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The house was immaculately clean, neighbors were friendly, and location was great. Elizabeth and family graciously provided some welcome goodies (including welcoming us to her home-grown tomatoes), and there were so many toys to play with that our 3 year-old daughter didn't want to leave the house! Would recommend this residence to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Amsterdam with small children.

Elizabeth was an amazing hostess, and gave us some great tips for visiting Amsterdam while were there. It was super easy to get to the Vondel Park, Museum Plein, and into the city center on the trains. I even rented a bicycle with my oldest daughter [12}. We had a great stay, and the Piri Reisplein residence was a big reason why. Tom

We had an amazing time at the Piri Reisplein. Elizabeth is a great hostess, always available and she has several useful tips. The house is beautiful, bright, clean, quiet and with tons of toys. Kids will have a blast there. My son and his cousins had lots of fun!! The location is great with several restaurants, shops, park and grocery stores. You can't go wrong staying there. We can't wait to be back!!

We had a wonderful stay at Elizabeth's home. It was absolutely ideal for us (3 adults, a toddler and a baby). It is a beautiful apartment, ideally located for exploring the sights of Amsterdam by foot or tram. This residence is very well equipped with all modern necessities, lots of great toys and fabulous quirky touches at every turn. I cannot recommend this home highly enough. It made the 16 hours of travel totally worthwhile! I am envious of all the future families that will get to stay here. Enjoy!

Elizabeth's place is lovely and she was great in staying in touch with us before and during our stay. Her place was clean and comfortable and we immiedately felt at home upon our arrival. The location is also very central with several tram lines making stops nearby. Elizabeth made a number of recommendations for attractions, dining and parks to visit and they are all amazing spots! We can't imagine staying anywhere else in Amsterdam and this is hands down one of our best vacations with our son! Thank you!

Elizabeth was truly a stellar host! From giving us great intel about food, things to do, transportation, and toddlers in Amsterdam to making sure we were all settled in at her place, she helped with every detail. The house was fabulous and filled with great toys and books that our kids enjoyed. I can't say enough good things about Amsterdam with toddlers, this house, or this host. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!

this was our first stay with kid & coe, and elizabeth has certainly set the bar high. we loved amsterdam and hope to return - if only to stay in her place again ! my kids (ages 1 and 4) were in heaven with all the toys and books and space to play on both floors. my parents were also with us, and it was extremely comfortable for them as well. elizabeth was happy to share her favorite addresses with us for everything, and even helped us with taxis and restaurant reservations. all around exceeded expectations. will be hard to stay in a regular hotel room from now on... ;)

We had a great time in Amsterdam. The kids loved playing with all the toys, it was like home from home. Elizabeth was a great host providing plenty of recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Even though she was on her own holiday whilst we stayed here she made the time to email us to check if everything was OK. Thanks again, Pippa and Co (e) 😀!

We had a lovely stay in this bright, charming home. Our three children were impressed with the superb selection of toys and enjoying playing in such spacious accommodation. The location is near several tram stops which made visiting attractions easy. Elizabeth was an excellent host and provided an abundance of helpful recommendations. This was our first experience with Kid and Coe and we are now utterly convinced. Having the ability to self cater, spread out and entertain the children is hugely relaxing. We have already booked another property for a holiday this summer.

We had a really lovely weekend stay in the Piri Reisplein Residence. It was beautifully presented, plenty of space and perfect for young children. Ideal location to explore Amsterdam but also lots of toys and games to keep the children happy without having to leave the apartment. It was spotless and the bedrooms were incredibly comfortable. Elizabeth was really helpful in the planning of the trip and made sure that we knew the best places to visit in the area.

We had the best time in Amsterdam and we are very glad we were able to stay in this apartment. The host was very communicative and gave good advice, and the residence was extremely clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Good location and near to supermarket and tram stop. Peaceful location but still well located to access the centre of the city. Our girls (aged 7 and 2) loved the many toys and our boys (14 and 11) appreciated the WiFi capability. All in all, a fantastic Kid & Coe experience!

A fantastic stay! Our host was very helpful and gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit, including local eateries and activities for children. The apartment is in a great location, close enough to get to the centre in 10 minutes but with a lovely park, cafe and petting zoo nearby. There are also a good range of shops and cafes within walking distance. The accommodation is very spacious, comfortable and and has plenty of toys and games for the little ones. Highly recommended.

Everything we could have wanted and more. Our hosts were very thoughtful and helpful with local recommendations of places to visit and eat with a toddler. Fantastic parks near by, great local amenities and easy transport links to get around. Books and toys in the flat were perfect and kept our little one entertained on a rainy day! Which meant we also had a relaxing holiday.

Everything about our accommodation was perfect. Our hosts were exceptionally helpful both before and during our stay. They sent through details of activities suitable for all of our party, left detailed directions, instructions and contacts. The apartment was very well equipped for us all (Granny to two year old, parents, aunty and uncle) and we would strongly recommend it to anyone staying in Amsterdam. Very close to the city centre, with great parks for children and an excellent road infrastructure, most of all excellent accomodation.
