Perks for the Parents

This beautiful Amsterdam family house, around 10 minutes from the heart of the city, makes a stay in Amsterdam with the kids a real delight. There is a cosy yet spacious double living room with a fireplace and a beautiful, fully equipped kitchen with a huge kitchen island which is perfect for family cooking. The giant dining table seats over 10 people. The tall, industrial sliding windows open up directly to the large terrace with a big round garden table, seating 8+ people. The garden beyond is fully enclosed and has a little greenhouse and a cosy sleepover shed. There is also a lovely front garden. Bikes and a bakfiets are available for the true Dutch family experience, and there is a tram stop within a minute's walk of the house, with direct access to Amsterdam's historical centre only a 10 minute bike ride away. The house is very bright and light and located in a safe, quiet and green area, with great stores within walking distance and one of Amsterdam's loveliest parks just across the street.

Why Kids Love it

The house is filled to the brim with toys and children's books for all ages, and has plenty of space to play, inside as well as out. There is a park and playground across the street and it is safe to play outside, with no heavy traffic in front of the house and a large garden with a vegetable patch in summer. There are 4 beautiful bedrooms just for kids, with 2 double beds, one full sized bed and a single bed between them, and a high chair. A travel cot is available upon request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay 2 nights. The house is laid out over 3 floors (stair gates are installed). Housekeeper / babysitter available upon request. Private parking for one car. Bikes in different sizes and a bakfiets (Dutch cargo bike) are available to borrow - ask host for details. Host has two cats that need feeding and looking after. Baby travel bed is available on request. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and kids can happily play outside.

About the Location

In the leafy Amsterdam South area, just 10 minutes by tram or bike to the historical center of the city. It is a very family friendly area, green and quiet, and perfectly located to discover the city of Amsterdam as well as other attractions in the Netherlands: the train station with access to all other Dutch destinations is only a 5-minute walk away. Trains to Schiphol Airport depart every 10 minutes from before mentioned train station and only take 7 minute to get there. Car hire is not necessary - the house is very well located for local, national as well as international public transportation. It is also excellently located for cycling. High quality grocery stores and bakeries as well as a pharmacy are very nearby. But a private parking place is located on the premises in case you do arrive by car, and highway access is very close too.

Accommodation Details

This private house has a large open plan living room with wood burner, a semi-separate music room/office and a spacious kitchen with an island and a giant 10+ dining table with a cosy built-in bench. It has an adjacent butler’s pantry and boot room entrance and also opens up directly to the large terrace and enclosed garden beyond. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (one ensuite to the primary bedroom), a large shower room and 2 further powder rooms. On the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms: 2 bedrooms with queensize beds and a third bedroom with a single bed. On this floor there is also one large bathroom and a laundry room. On the second floor, there are 2 bedrooms, one children's bedroom with a double bed and one kingsize room with a luxurious ensuite bathroom. There is also a separate shower room on this floor.

Style Notes

A mid-century modern house with original, steel windows. The interior showcases modern pieces mixed with vintage and acres of white walls to best show off the odd splash of color. Polished concrete floors with Moroccan rugs, and painted floorboards elsewhere in the house; clean lines and plenty of plants in the tiled bathrooms. The cosy rural-meets-industrial style kitchen is great for family life; kids rooms have cute prints and designer decor. We love the vast picture window in the lounge and the giant sliding doors in the kitchen, opening up to the terrace and garden.

We are Tamar and Esther, husband and wife, and we have 5 children: Sara (18), Pim (16), Ava (13), Casper (11) and Bram (5). We love cooking and crafting, playing games and hanging out with our friends in our spacious kitchen and lovely garden. We also enjoy traveling and exploring -- be it in Amsterdam, further in Europe or the rest of the world!

De Goudkust, Amsterdam

The Gold Coast

Nicknamed the 'Gold Coast', this Amsterdam suburb is unique, with wide tree-lined avenues, detached villas and green spaces - as opposed to townhouses fronting canals. It's a charming, peaceful and ultra desirable area to stay in, close to the Beatrixpark in the southwest of the city.

We had a very lovely stay at the Beatrixpark residence. The owners were so very helpful, making our Christmas holiday really special. The home is spacious and well appointed and had everything we could possibly need and more. Our kids loved all the wooden toys and train tracks - and had fun with the cats as well. The location is great with shops, restaurants and public transportation very close by. We highly recommend this place!

What a wonderful home! After 1,5 year of quarantine and almost no school, we decided to take our kids for some well-deserved vacation. We spent 5 weeks at Esther beautiful home. The house has a lovely backyard with a greenhouse (or a secret clubhouse, as my kids told me lol), a beautiful kitchen and all the toys a kid could want. Moreover, we were extremely happy having Hunter and Pixie (a.k.a. the cats) to show us the house and my kids are still asking about them. The location is also great, with Beatrix Park just across the street, tram/bus stations nearby making it very easy to commute around Amsterdam. Esther also gave us great recommendations and was very helpful and most welcoming. Its a special place made by a very special family and you can feel it.

We are a family of five on an adventure around the world and the Beatrix Residence was the best start we could ever have! It is the most charming house, with toys for all ages and bikes of all sizes (an absolute must in Amsterdam). The backyard is lovely and they even have the most beautiful little greenhouse, where we could harvest some tomatoes during our stay. The location is also great! Next to the Beatrixpark and in a nice residential neighbourhood. And Hunter, the cat, became Martin’s best friend. We felt like locals. All the family is super nice! We felt so welcomed! We are already missing Amsterdam and this beautiful, charming and cozy house.

This is such a special house! Our children were enchanted by the beautifully curated collection of toys. The neighbourhood is lovely and it is so easy to get around the Netherlands on train or to Schipol airport or to get into central Amsterdam.

We had a lovely stay at the Beatrixpark Residence. The house was clean and welcoming and so well-stocked with interesting toys that it was hard to get our kids to go out. Luckily, it was also equipped with a selection of bikes that successfully tempted the children out of the house! Esther was a helpful host, leaving recommendations for restaurants in the area, many of which we enjoyed. I highly recommend the Beatrixpark Residence if you are looking for a relaxing base from which to enjoy Amsterdam!

The 9 of us could not have enjoyed any more our stay in Esther's family home. Esther was extremely hospitable, the kids felt very much at home (ages 6-12), and us adults admired the beautiful garden and stylish interiors. It is truly a special place, and we felt very lucky to be there. Thank you, Esther + Family!

We loved our stay at the Beatrixpark Residence. The house and garden are lovely and very comfortable. Perfect for families and ideal for visitors to the city that want to immerse themselves in Amsterdam life. The area is great, just outside the main tourist hub and a short tram ride or a walk to the museums. Esther is a fantastic host, and we couldn't be happier with our memories of our time here.

Our two families, including teenagers and young children, recently spent a lovely long weekend at the Beatrixpark Residence in Amsterdam. The house is spacious and light-filled, with an abundance of beautiful toys and houseplants. The back garden is a happy child friendly space with a pretty herbaceous garden. The house is stylish yet comfortable, and it was a delight to be staying in a home that felt like a family friend's, with real charm and character. We walked twice to the nearby Beatrixpark and played at the playground (which has a shallow circular lido that is filled on weekends), and used the tram just down the street to travel into central Amsterdam. There are two parakeets and a friendly household cat.

What an oasis within Amsterdam! Was perfect for our whole family. There is a lot of care and attention that goes into their well-appointed and very hip home... and we felt honoured to be invited in! Very clean, very comfortable. Perfect home base and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended if you are a family and looking to explore the city. Bonus: the bikes!! Incredible.

The house was very stylish yet child friendly (though stairs were bit scary for my two year old). Children enjoyed playing in the house and the garden as well as nearby Beatrix park. The location was perfect for a laidback holiday.

Wonderful house in a great area of Amsterdam. perfect for a big family. Cannot recommend highly enough. Lovely park across the road, great public transport to city centre and airport. Great supermarket just down the road. Esther is a great host and the house is extremely homely.

The best weekend we have ever had in Amsterdam, my favourite city!! The house was great with four kids in tow and being able to arrive in the evening and hop straight on the very handy bikes and head out for pizza was just perfect. We loved the local area and found everything we needed and more within a five or ten minute bike ride. The rooms are all beautifully furnished and the children's room were particularly appreciated by my brood (the Star Wars room is a real winner if you have boys!). We also loved looking after the family pets and all fell a little bit in love with the parakeet... Esther was so friendly and incredibly helpful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble! If you want to feel like a true Amsterdamer, if only for a little while, then this is definitely the place to stay. We will be back as soon as we find another excuse!
