This wood-sided house in the woods in Delhi, upstate New York, sleeps 4 adults and 2 children and is a Catskills adventure waiting to happen. Imagine: in winter, going snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the 120 acres around the property, then returning to the residence to drink hot chocolate on the porch and watch eagles soar in a bleached blue sky. Or in summer, playing in the woods, boating on nearby lakes and swimming in rivers. It’s a great spot for a weekend break from New York City but has enough nearby to satisfy the most active family for up to 2 weeks. We’d recommend it for families with children over 6.

What we love

  • It’s a unique, vintage-styled log cabin hideout with plenty to look at
  • The kids room has a beautiful built in bunk bed for 2, with a hidey-hole feel
  • Both double bedrooms are cosy with down quilts and magnificent views
  • The cabin is in 120 acres of land, with a secluded feel - but is only 8 minutes from Delhi
  • Sinking into the rolltop bath after a day in the countryside feels like bliss
  • The family bathroom has a glamorous modern double walk-in shower
  • It’s an opportunity to spend some time away from city life, sit on the deck with a cup of coffee and enjoy the wildlife and the view
  • In winter, it’s well placed for skiing - and cross-country skiing is possible on the property

Things to know

  • The property is 8 minutes by car from Delhi, which has a grocery store, antiques shops and gas station
  • It's close to some great ski slopes: Andes and Bellayre in one direction and also Hunter and Plattekill Mountains, all under 50 minutes away
  • It’s around 3 hours by car from New York City
  • While it’s a family-friendly residence, we prefer it for older kids because of the open pond, lack of stairgates and numerous items that smaller tots might play with
  • Parking is at the property
  • The surrounding land includes fields and woods, a small pond and plenty of wildlife

Beautifully renovated cabin with all the right touches. My family had a delightful weekend away at the Maggie Hoag Residence. Erica and Scott were available to answer all kinds of little questions for us and offered great advice for things to do while in the area. The home is a bit of an art masterpiece in and of itself and we were so comfortable during our stay. Kitchen was very well stocked and organized. We stayed toasty and cozy through the cold weekend. A get away in the truest sense, you felt like you were in the middle of no where, even though town was an eight minute drive. Thanks again for welcoming us to your home!

What a wonderful weekend retreat we had at the Maggie Hoag House! The house is so cozy and perfectly appointed! I loved every detail of the home! The near-by towns were inviting with sweet shops to explore. Waking up on Saturday as the snow was falling while listening to the silence and observing the picturesque view, was perfection. Thank you!

A taste of the Catkills

Delhi is a fantastic place to stay to explore the Catskills. As well as canoeing, fishing and hiking opportunities, the town itself has antiques and vintage stores plus organic grocers and sweet cafes. Around three hours north of New York City, it's also well placed for skiing with four resorts within an hour's drive.
