Perks for the Parents

A gorgeous and fun family home in the Eagle Rock neighborhood, with a heated pool, outdoor playhouse, great kids bedrooms and stunning sunset views over Los Angeles. It sleeps XX. The hosts have 5 children aged 8 and under, so the house is well equipped for multiple children and families. The backyard is great for a large group to dine under bistro lights, and has multiple levels to enjoy, as well as a great view of Los Angeles sunsets from the playhouse at the top of the property. Parents and kids alike will love taking a dip in the heated plunge pool and relaxing in the 5-person Clearlight Infrared Sauna. In the garage you'll also find a gym section (with a workout mat, kids gymnastics bar, weights and treadmill) and 2 adult e-bikes.

Why Kids Love it

The house is well stocked with Legos, dress up clothes, art supplies, books, and magnatiles for children under 10. The playroom is decked out with a foam pit, climbing monkey bars, a large table for arts and crafts, and a projector and screen for entertainment. The kids will be entertained for hours in the amazing backyard, complete with pool, mud kitchen, playhouse, trampoline and slide. It’s also across the street from the Eagle Rock Recreation Center, which has a newly remodeled playground as well as tennis and basketball courts for kids to run around and enjoy. To help you explore the neighborhood as a family, you’ll find mini scooters, kids pedal and balance bikes and a BOB stroller in the garage. For parents with babies, the host can supply a high chair, baby bath, changing pad, and Baby Bjorn rocker.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 days. The house and outdoor spaces do contain stairs, but there are baby gates at the top of all landings (including outdoors). The multi level backyard is complete with a plunge pool, infrared sauna, trampoline, slide and 6 chickens - very curious little pets which also provide delicious eggs that you can collect from the coop during your stay. The plunge pool has an electric cover that opens with a code and can be heated upon request. There is plenty of street parking so the garage is not used for cars so is handy storage for bikes and scooters. Car rental is not essential.

About the Location

The house is located in Eagle Rock, a great neighborhood with many young families located in Los Angeles. Eagle Rock borders Pasadena, which includes highlights like the Rose Bowl (10 minutes drive), Highland Park (8 minutes drive), and Glendale (5 minutes drive). It’s close to great restaurants, a Trader Joes, other supermarkets and cafes. Burbank Airport is a 20-minute. drive and LAX is 50 minutes away. Los Angeles Zoo is around 15 minutes away by car, inside Griffith Park which is also home to the Observatory and The Greek Theater. Warner Bros Studios (for Harry Potter tours) is 20 minutes by car.

Accommodation Details

The house has 4 bedrooms + playroom and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The large primary bedroom has a newly-renovated bathroom with a spacious shower, soaking tub and amazing natural light. There are 2 other bedrooms on the main floor: one has a crib and twin bed and the other has 2 sets of twin bunk beds (sleeps 4). Downstairs there’s an additional queensize bedroom with an attached bathroom, and a large playroom / media room with a bathroom. Enjoy the spacious kitchen on the top floor equipped with a beverage drawer fridge, pebble ice maker, and Nespresso machine. Open the sliding doors to the outdoor patio with a large dining table, Modpool plunge pool, infrared sauna, outdoor shower and Solo stove.

Style Notes

Hideaway in the hills. The hosts have chosen contemporary styling, dark furnishings and muted cool colors to create an understated and chic space that still feels relaxed. Recently remodeled, the home has a modern feel with great natural light and accent colors in the children’s bedrooms to add a playful sense of fun. The kitchen, living room and outdoor patio flow well into one another, making it a great space to relax and dine. We love the use of natural wooden textures used throughout, the colorful wall mural in the play room and the brilliant blue of the kids bunk room.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
