Perks for the Parents
Retreat to this sun-drenched ranch house in the heart of Springs, East Hampton to enjoy a private heated pool and architect-designed spaces. It sleeps 8. This is the perfect vacation home for families looking for an easy, laid-back summer. There’s space for both kids and parents to relax in the sun or take a swim, as well as open plan living areas that are ideal for casual family dining. For parents working from home, there’s a studio/work area (plus high speed internet) but the rooms have flexible uses, so you can create additional sleeping spaces for nannies, teenagers or grandparents if you’re planning a multi-generational trip. Visit the nearby sandy beaches, explore the popular eateries in Springs and East Hampton, or simply doze away the days in the peaceful backyard while the kids play.
Why Kids Love it
This family home is great for kids of all ages. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor space to spread out - they’ll find backyard toys, pool toys and garden games to enjoy as well as cozy hammocks for snoozing or reading in the sun. Teens will love escaping to the pool house for time away from parents and the stepped-entry saltwater pool is ideal for younger kids to build up their water confidence. Load up the fire pit for toasting s’mores in the evening and take turns using the telescope for stargazing - the clear nights here are not to be missed. For days out, the larger beaches in the Hamptons have lifeguards on duty, so kids can spend sunny days on the sands. In cooler weather, visit East Hampton for family-friendly ice cream parlors, a library, playgrounds and the Children’s Museum of the East End.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 14 nights. Pricing includes regularly scheduled weekly cleanings, weekly pool service and lawn care. A deposit will be taken in advance to cover any pool heating costs. Safety notes: the heated, 20 x 40 foot' saltwater pool is not fenced but there is a pool alarm available. The private backyard is gated and the property is fenced-in for extra safety. The house has central air conditioning and is on town water supply (not well water). There is an outdoor shower, a separate poolhouse/shed; gas grill; a fire pit with a seating area; high-speed internet, Sonos speakers and a wood-burning stove for the cooler months. Day or week passes at Main Beach and 2 Mile Hollow are now available for beach access. Parking is available and car rental is recommended to explore the area.
About the Location
This residence is located in Springs, just outside East Hampton, New York. This laid-back Hamptons town is known as the home of Jackson Pollock (visit Pollock-Krasner House in the summer season) and as a popular place for boating and water activities. Head east to the ocean for Louse Point Town Beach or Barnes Hole Beach; west to the bay (Twins beach) or south to East Hampton’s Main Beach and 2 Mile Hollow (all around 10 minutes’ drive). It’s a 15-minute walk to Three Mile Harbor and Marina Lane Waterside Park, and you can rent water sports equipment at Paddle Diva on the water (3 minutes’ drive). You’ll find shopping, farm stands and groceries nearby, or it’s a short drive to East Hampton Village, Amagansett or Sag Harbor for a wider range of stores and eateries. To access the city, take the Jitney or train from East Hampton into Manhattan (3 hours) or drive (2.5 hours). JFK and LaGuardia airports are around 2 hours away.
Accommodation Details
The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. The large living area combines a seating area, dining table and adjacent modern kitchen, so you can keep an eye on the kids while you cook. The house has been designed with 3 separate seating/entertaining areas indoors (one of which has a single day bed), as well as the generous outdoor deck with garden furniture. The primary bedroom (with queensize bed) boasts an ensuite bathroom, and the second guest room (also with a queensize bed) has its own bathroom with bathtub. An architecturally-converted garage serves as a studio and can also be used as an additional guest room or kids bedroom (with a single sofabed) and has a half bathroom next door. The backyard also features a separate studio/shed/poolhouse for additional sleeping space on a double airbed if required.
Style Notes
Bright and beachy. The hosts have created a light-filled, airy space, finished with contemporary high-end furniture. Luxurious yet inviting and ever-so-cozy, the open plan space is practical yet stylish, with an elegant and simple kitchen boasting marble countertops, 5 burner gas range and plenty of cabinet space. Both the converted garage and the studio shed are architect-designed and fully integrated. Likewise, the landscaping on the property is seamless and native, with a handful of beautiful flowering trees, tall beach grasses and a large half acre lawn perfect for playing and lounging. We love the colorful bar trolley in the dining area, the mid-century inspired hairpin leg tables and the warm textured rugs which soften the space.

East Hampton, The Hamptons
Mansions and main beach
East Hampton is this affluent playground’s most fashionable town, known for its grand houses and estates as much for its readings and exhibitions. The main draw is Main Beach, a beautiful coastline with clean sands, inviting waters, professional lifeguards, plenty of space and millionaire mansions on the banks. LongHouse Reserve, with its enchanting sculpture garden, and Hither Hills State Park are also worth a visit.
