Perks for the Parents

This charming home, a ten-minute drive from downtown East Hampton and Amagansett, offers a spacious kitchen, toy-filled den and gated pool. With a spacious kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, and common spices, and an outdoor dining setup with a Weber gas grill, family meals are a highlight. The baby monitor can reach the edge of the deck, so sitting out with a glass of wine after the kids go to bed is worry-free. The larger bedroom upstairs has a kingsize bed and a smart TV, and there is a queen bedroom downstairs that is perfect for a nanny or grandparents.

Why Kids Love it

With a pool and space to run and play, the gardens are great for kids. Inside, there are tons of toys, games and books for all ages. The den has everything from mega Legos and blocks to chess and jenga, and the living room makes a great push-toy track. There is a crib upstairs, along with a pack’n’play if that is preferable. A Tripp Trapp high chair, a booster seat and bigger kid-sized seat. Nearby, the bay beaches are just a short drive away - the house is 2 miles from the beach at Maidstone Park and at Gerard Drive. Plenty of items for smaller children included, with toys, board books, strollers and safety equipment on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights in June (Sunday check-in is not available), 14 nights July-August (again, Sunday check-ins are not available). The house is set up with gates on the staircases, both inside and out. The pool is gated with a child lock with a key to fully lock it available if preferred. Car rental highly recommended for exploring the area. A quick drive away you can load up on delicious summer foods at Round Swamp Farm. There are a handful of restaurants for dinner in the Springs, including Harbor Grill & Harbor Bistro, which are along Three Mile Harbor, all of them are good local options with fresh seafood and Hamptons-grown produce. The house is stocked with all the essentials (linens, towels, spices, etc). Parking for up to 4 cars on the driveway.

About the Location

The residence is in the Springs area of East Hampton. The closest towns are East Hampton (6 miles), Amagansett (6 miles), Bridgehampton (15 miles) and Montauk and Southampton (20 miles). It is a quiet neighborhood with a preserve across the street from the house, not many neighbors and not much traffic. A short drive takes you to the incredible bay beaches at Maidstone Park, Gerard Drive, or one of several harbors. Nearby, you'll find Maidstone Market, the Springs Country Store, Balsam Farm, Round Swamp Farm and Bonac Farms organic market stand where breakfast, lunch and small groceries are available year round. The area is 2-3 hours from New York City and best accessed by car; a Jitney service operates to East Hampton and Amagansett.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom house includes a large deck off the kitchen (with propane grill) overlooking the grassy back yard and heated pool, surrounded by trees and fenced for additional privacy. The downstairs includes a well-equipped kitchen, a den and an open plan lounge/diner with a fireplace. The bedrooms are set up with a king bedroom upstairs, a second upstairs room has a crib and 2 twin beds, and the bathroom is in-between. The first floor has a queen bedroom next to the downstairs bathroom and the den includes a pull-out sofa. Bathrooms include bath and shower.

Style Notes

Bright and charming. The living room is set up to be comfortable and spacious with a fireplace in the center, while the den is cozy. It is perfect for families with kid-friendly amenities in a laid-back atmosphere. The deck, garden and swimming pool make enjoying sunny days together as a family easy without leaving the property. The family kitchen has space to make a great meal with local produce. We love the cozy den, the quiet location and the great provision for little kids.

We live on the Upper West Side with our toddler and newborn. Rachel manages a scholarship program for high school students and Mike is a commercial real estate investment professional. We enjoy traveling out to East Hampton with our sons to spend weekends at the beach, by the pool, playing in the yard and grilling (especially corn!) with extra space to run around and chill out with a glass of wine (or juice). We bought the house because we struggled to find a reasonably priced rental with kid-friendly accoutrements that take up the entire car and left mom and dad with barely enough room for a bathing suit! We decided that we should share that convenience with others as well, so we've begun renting out our home to help others have relaxing get-aways with their little ones!

East Hampton, The Hamptons

Mansions and main beach

East Hampton is this affluent playground’s most fashionable town, known for its grand houses and estates as much for its readings and exhibitions. The main draw is Main Beach, a beautiful coastline with clean sands, inviting waters, professional lifeguards, plenty of space and millionaire mansions on the banks. LongHouse Reserve, with its enchanting sculpture garden, and Hither Hills State Park are also worth a visit.

Our experience couldn't have been better. The space was spotlessly clean and so well organized (everything is labeled for easy guest use) with tons of toys and spaces for little ones to play. The pool is great and the heater works so well we were able to swim on the chillier days during our stay. Great location, great everything. Hosts were friendly and instantly responsive to any questions along the way.
