This wonderful kid-happy, 5-bedroom house with a pool and outdoor deck with ocean views is walking distance to Leucadia’s shops and beaches. It sleeps up to 13 (10 in beds). The hosts have 3 kids under 10, so there’s everything you can imagine to keep them happy here. Take a dip in the pool, relax in the backyard or lounge on the wonderful, raised, ocean-view deck. Out and about, you’ll be close to several great beaches. The house comes stocked with boogie boards, surfboards, sand toys and a beach umbrella to make perfect family memories. Please ask about the hosts’ au pair who may be available to babysit.
Why Kids Love it
The beach house is ideal for children between 4 and 12 years old. They’ll love to play in the outdoor pool, and on the ping pong table and Bocce court. There’s also the playroom downstairs with stack of toys, games, and puzzles, Legos, trains, a fort builder, and more. Visiting guests are welcome to use the children's bikes, scooters, and skateboards. The house is within walking distance of a nearby playground that includes a basketball court, volleyball court, and small skate ramp. Legoland is 10 minutes away and San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Old Town and downtown San Diego, just 30 minutes.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 6 nights. Safety notes: the house is not child-proofed for young children (no baby gates, outlet covers, etc.). There is 1 set of stairs in the house and flight outside leads to the pool. There is a gate on the driveway and it’s possible to set alarms on the doors leading to the backyard for pool safety. There is ample parking. This is the hosts’ primary residence so includes everything you may need during your stay. A Peloton, weights and yoga mats are available in the guest Room/office. Two bedrooms feature desks if you need to work. Pets are welcome. A double air bed is available for an additional 2 guests.
About the Location
The beach house is in the small coastal community of Leucadia in the city of Encinitas, San Diego County, California. It’s tucked away in a residential and tropical neighborhood west of the highway on a quiet street. Leucadia is known for its beaches, surf culture and laid-back atmosphere. Beacon's Beach, Grandview Beach, and Moonlight State Beach are popular for sunbathing and surfing. Swami's Beach, located at the southern end of Encinitas, is a legendary surf spot. In town you’ll find colorful murals, vibrant street art, and cozy coffee shops. Great restaurants are within walking distance or a short drive.
Accommodation Details
This residence has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms arranged over 2 floors. Enter and you’ll find an open floor plan living / dining / kitchen area, opening onto a large deck with views of the Pacific Ocean. Three bedrooms are on the main level: 1 primary bedroom with a kingsize bed, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom; a kids’ room with twin bunk bed and separate toddler ‘Cars’ bed; and a guest room/office with a new queensize sofa sleeper. These bedrooms share a full bathroom with a tub/shower. The lower level has 2 additional bedrooms – each with a queensize bed and 1 with an ensuite bathroom; another bathroom, and the laundry room with a washer and dryer and kids’ playroom. The backyard features a pool, ping pong table and Bocce ball court.
Style Notes
Contemporary beach style. This newly renovated (winter 2022) house has large, open floor plan set up for indoor / outdoor living. Sliding floor-to-ceiling doors from the main living space open to the half-covered deck with a teak outdoor dining table, a BBQ, outdoor lounging sofas and Pacific views. Hardwood floors run throughout and shiplap accents in several rooms add to the beachy feel. Enjoy a coffee on the front deck or watch the sunset from the back. We love the clean, modern décor; the beautiful outdoor space that both parents and kids will enjoy; and the stack of surfboards and boogie boards waiting to be taken for a ride.
