Perks for the Parents

A stunning Provencal retreat just outside Eygalières, with a heated swimming pool, contemporary interiors and concierge services. It sleeps up to 19. This is the perfect place for parents to relax and recharge, set in peaceful rural surroundings. Spacious bedrooms, split-level living and open plan layouts make it ideal for families traveling with friends, grandparents or a nanny - everyone will have their own space. Arrange for a private chef to create al fresco meals for the family, or visit the charming local restaurants for a taste of world-famous French cuisine.

Why Kids Love it

The mezzanine dorm room is perfect for siblings, cousins or friends who like to share, and parents with babies can rent additional equipment on request, including a crib, linens or a high chair. There’s lots of space to play outdoors and kids will love splashing in the 16 x 4m heated pool all day long. If they’re keen to explore further afield, they’ll enjoy a trip to Saint Remy de Provence, (15 minutes’ drive), for ice creams and carousel rides, or to the Camargue (45 minutes’ drive) to see white horses and flamingos.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Bookings in July and August run from Saturday to Saturday. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 5.76€ pppn). Safety notes: the heated pool is not gated so young children should be supervised outdoors. There are 5 parking spaces outside the home - car rental is recommended to explore the area. The Smart TV has Netflix and French TV channels. The property is managed by an agency in France who act as a concierge during your stay: they can advise places to go, local restaurants to try, shopping deliveries, at-home treatments, arrange housekeeping, babysitting, chef services, excursions or equipment rental. All the bedrooms have air conditioning. Sorry - no pets allowed.

About the Location

This beautiful villa is located just outside the village of Eygalières in Provence, which has traditional bakeries, shops, restaurants and a cinema. It’s a short 5-minute drive into the center (or a 35-minute walk) and it’s easy to visit neighboring picturesque villages including Maussane-les-Alpilles, St Rémy and Luberon. Many villages in this region have local markets each week offering fresh produce from the region. Visit the historic city of Avignon (30 minutes’ drive) or the archaeological site of Glanum (10 minutes’ drive) for a taste of Provencal history. The nearest airport is Marseille (1 hour away).

Accommodation Details

The villa has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Downstairs, there’s a very spacious living/dining area and a separate TV lounge, a billiard room and a fully equipped kitchen. This floor has 1 kingsize bedroom with an ensuite shower room, a laundry room and separate WC. Upstairs, there are 3 kingsize ensuite bedrooms and 2 kingsize bedrooms with independent bathrooms. There’s also a mezzanine floor above the kitchen, with a kids dorm room (5 single beds), separate bathroom and a final kingsize ensuite bedroom. Outside, you’ll find the swimming pool and a separate pool house (ideal for teens and older kids to hang out), as well as 2 terrace areas accessed from the front and via the kitchen. All the bedrooms have AC except 1 (which is located on the North side of the house so stays cooler).

Style Notes

Old meets new. Historic period features (such as the original fireplace and exposed stone walls) complement contemporary additions, including the black framed windows. The classic stone floors keep cool in summer, while the chic neutral palette looks calm and relaxing. Beautiful wooden ceilings appear rustic and understated - a great juxtaposition with the modern black dining chairs and stools. We love the traditional tiled entrance hall, the old store curved staircase and the authentic curved windows downstairs.

Eygalières, Provence

Medieval ruins and market stalls

This pretty village in the heart of Provence is perched in the northern Alpilles mountains and has medieval ruins along with shops, restaurants and bakeries. On a Friday, market stalls selling local produce line the stone streets and draw in plenty of local visitors. It’s a charming little village and is in a great location for exploring the area, with Avignon, Arles, Aix, Saint Remy and Les Baux de Provence all under hour’s drive away.
