Perks for the Parents

This Fire Island beach house is just one back from the ocean and includes 4 bedrooms and an outside deck. It has full beach amenities and is reachable from Patchogue Ferry in Patchogue. With cozy wood panelled walls, it is a comfortable retreat after days spent beachcombing and swimming in salty water. Shiplap walls add to the bohemian beach house feel, while a sunroom opens from the lounge to offer more space to play and relax.

Why Kids Love it

Being so close to the beach, kids will love the chance to run, play, dig and swim every day. The house is set up for families and includes 4 bedrooms, each with a kingsize bed, plus 2 cribs on request. It is ideal for families and children of all ages. There is plenty of space to play in the house itself, and a family-friendly café and harbor store within walking distance. The Davis Park community is known as one of the most family-friendly on the island.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days in July and August, 3 days May, June and September. Note that there are some breakables that should be moved from a young child’s reach, and that young children should be supervised in the yard at all times. This house is child-friendly but has not been baby proofed. There is garden access via a balcony/walkway that is not suitable for young children. It is a beach house: it has a back deck with railings, the stairs heading upstairs have railings and the living space has sliding doors leading to and inside porch. NB guests should bring cash – there is a lack of ATMs on the island. There is a convenience store and a restaurant in Davis Park along with the Fire Dept and Police office. That's it: everyone brings food with them for the rental period.

About the Location

The house is in Davis Park, towards the west end of Fire Island. You reach Davis Park via the Davis Park ferry from Patchogue, which takes about 20 minutes. There are no cars, bicycles or roads/streets in Davis Park, just old boardwalk, which makes the community totally safe, as long as you don’t fall off the boardwalk. The walk is very kid friendly and all the houses around this one have children. Fire Island is a beautiful island off the south coast of Long Island. It is approximately 2 hours from New York City and 1.5 hours from the nearest international airport, JFK. There is a local airport called McArthur on Long Island. Fire island is a car-free zone – the best ways to get around are on foot, by bike or by boat. Please consult with the host for any additional information on reaching the location.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home includes a laundry room, built-in porch and outside deck with outside shower and Weber grill. Inside, the kitchen is fully equipped and there is a comfortable lounge with doors to a sunroom. Bedrooms all have a kingsize bed and there are 2 cribs available. The bathroom has a shower only. There is no garden, just a 22m beach.

Style Notes

Beach chic. This newly renovated home includes a new kitchen with pots and pans, flatware, dishes and more, plus newly painted bedrooms. It is a great retreat for a family vacation, with cozy nooks, a sunroom and a deck. We love the wood-panelled walls, the pretty printed textiles and the great location for a classic family vacation away from it all.
