Perks for the Parents

This is a true haven for parents who want a beautiful, functional space that feels like it was designed just for them. The moment you arrive and realize the ocean is just steps away (no beach parking, no dragging gear down long boardwalks, making easy bathroom trips back at the house), you can relax. Inside, everything is thoughtfully designed with families in mind, and that includes the grown-ups. Two stylish, serene primary bedrooms (each with ensuite bathrooms) give parents space to recharge, while the layout and size make it easy to invite extended family or another family to join - perfect for shared memories and sharing the supervision. The kitchen is fully stocked for easy family meals, the towels are plush, and the lighting is warm and inviting - every little detail is checked to make guests feel cared for. Outside, the private heated pool and hot tub offer built-in entertainment for kids and blissful moments of relaxation for parents, all in the safety and privacy of your own backyard.

Why Kids Love it

The house is a dream setup for families with kids of all ages, from beach-loving toddlers to teens who want space to chill. The house includes a dedicated bunk room that’s a big hit with younger kids, plus additional bedrooms with twin beds that are perfect for siblings, cousins, or friends. The hosts provide toys, books, and games for kids, along with a travel crib, monitor and high chair. The open-concept living and dining area gives everyone room to spread out, whether it’s building forts, playing card games, or watching movies after a long beach day. Outside, they’ll love splashing in the heated pool while the nearby beach is ideal for shell collecting, sandcastle building, and gentle waves for even the littlest swimmers. The hosts provide floaties for the pool and boogie boards for body surfers, as well as plenty of beach games (cornhole, spikeball, etc) and a plethora of sand toys - sturdy shovels, pails, etc.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights during peak season (late June, July & August), with Sunday to Sunday arrivals. Shorter stays are possible in Spring and Fall. The home has a staircase between the 2 floors that does not have a stair gate, so toddlers should be supervised. The pool/hot tub has a safety cover that is only accessible by a code. There are no cars allowed on Fire Island (providing peace of mind for parents and a sense of freedom children rarely get to experience). The hosts provide 12 Priority bicycles (one including a trailer that fits 2 children) that guests can use for the duration of their stay. along with beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, and even 2 Shibumi shades, so packing is light and days at the beach are easy. Please note: as is typical on Fire Island, there is no AC in the common areas (though all bedrooms are air-conditioned), and the island is only accessible by ferry. The hosts will provide a detailed guest guide to help with logistics, including ferry schedules and local tips. Sorry, no pets as the family often use the home and have allergies. Management + damage wavier fee of $89 applies.

About the Location

The property is located just 100ft from the beach in Ocean Bay Park on Fire Island, a car-free, family-friendly slice of paradise just 90 minutes from New York City. Most guests take the Long Island Railroad (or drive) to Bay Shore, then hop on the ferry for a breezy 30-minute ride across the Great South Bay. The ferry arrives at the Ocean Bay Park terminal: from there, it is a 5-8 minute walk to the home. The hosts have 2 oversized wagons provided, waiting for guests at the ferry and the ferry attendants are helpful with luggage. You can also take a private water taxi, arranged in advance. There’s no cars, no traffic, just kids on bikes and parents exhaling. (Authorized services have access to vehicles in case of emergencies and there is an urgent care center on the island). The location is perfect for families who want that rare mix of freedom and simplicity. Kids can roam safely, teens can bike into town for an ice cream and grownups can truly unplug. We’re 100 feet from the beach and just a few blocks from a small playground, local markets, a casual restaurant scene, and even a bay beach for younger swimmers. With no roads and no rush, Fire Island lets families slow down and reconnect — it’s the kind of place where barefoot mornings turn into sunset swims, and every age finds their rhythm.

Accommodation Details

The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The main upper level features an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area that’s filled with natural light thanks to walls of windows and sliding doors that open to a spacious deck. The primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom is also on this level. There are 4 bedrooms on the lower level, including a second ensuite primary queensize bedroom with ocean views. Kids have their pick of bunk rooms and twin setups, all thoughtfully styled and equipped with books, games, and space to unwind. The deck is complete with a heated container pool, hot tub, outdoor showers with two heads and a dining area for relaxed post-beach dinners. There’s also an outdoor shower below the home. There is space in front of the house to play lawn/sand games like cornhole (which hosts provide).

Style Notes

The design is clean, coastal, and elevated: think relaxed luxury and leisure in perfect harmony. Natural textures, beachy neutrals, and layers of soft blues and greens bring the outdoors in, while thoughtful lighting and plush textiles make the space feel instantly calming. Each of the bedrooms on the main floor are lightly Fire Island themed: Seaglass room, Surf room, Deer Room, and Bunk room - styled with a nod to nautical design. The children’s rooms are cheerful and fun without being overly themed, and grown-up spaces are serene, not sterile. The hosts have blended modern comfort with timeless style: wide plank floors, whitewashed wood tones, and curated art that reflects the soul of Fire Island. The living spaces feel open and breezy, with cozy corners to curl up in and wide windows that flood the home with sunlight (and salty sea air). Everything is designed with families in mind, from durable surfaces to cozy bedding, yet it never feels cluttered or chaotic.

Hi, I’m the Co-founder of Awayzing Stays—a family-run collection of vacation homes crafted with care, creativity, and a love for travel. I personally design each space with families in mind, blending practicality with a sense of wonder. Windows on the Sea is especially close to my heart: I hand-collected the Fire Island beach stones that form the shower floor, and our growing collection of purple shells—gathered one by one over the years—has become a little tradition my family and I love sharing with guests. Hosting is deeply personal to me, and I hope you feel the warmth and intention in every corner of your stay.
