Italian charm. This terracotta-laden property is a delight to the eyes. The Pucci Family loves to travel and we love to share our love of travel with family, friends and guests. We ( Alessio and Kimberly) meet in Florence, Italy over 20 years ago. I (Kimberly) went to Florence for my junior year abroad and loved it so much that I returned soon after graduation and became a jewelry buyer for the oldest family of jewelers on the Ponte Vecchio. Alessio is a native Tuscan who has a double Phd in Engineering and Architecture from the University of Pisa. After many years of living in Renaissance Florence, we decided to buy and restore a portion of a 12 th c. Hamlet in the heart of Tuscany, 30 minutes from Florence, Siena and San Gimignano. Soon after, our daughter Alina was born. In 2006, we decided to move to southern Rhode Island, outside of Newport with the dream of opening our own businesses and grow our family. In 2009, Niccolo was born and Alessio opened his residential architectural firm. I have since have been a diamond buyer. Since 2006, our Tuscan home has welcomed guests from all over the world but has catered to a North American clientele. We rent between 22-30 weeks out of the year and offer in villa cooking lessons, wine tastings and freshly prepared farm to table four course Tuscan meals with wine. We also partake in Home Exchange and have had 10+ very successful exchanges most recntly in Copenhagen, the Berkshires, NYC, Reykjavik, Paris, Miami, Palm Beach, Seal Harbor and Nantucket. Our plan is to grow our rental business and travel as much as possible as we feel that our time together while we travel is priceless. We take one month every summer to shut it all down, reconnect and slow down the pace of our hectic lives.

Florence, Tuscany

Art, architecture and an antique carousel

Known for its incredible art galleries, architecture and Michelangelo’s David, the capital of Tuscany has plenty for parents with an eye for beauty, and it doesn’t let the younger generation down either. Play hide and seek in Baroque gardens, seek out the best gelateria in the city (you need to test a few to be sure), or ride on the antique carousel in Piazza Repubblica. Take a guided tour of the Uffizi or try a fashion workshop for under 12s at the Gucci Museum. Eat pizza, climb the narrow corridor to the top of the Duomo or buy wooden toys at Bartolucci’s. Then start planning for your return visit.

We arrived at Casa Alina with one toddler, one newborn, and 3 adults, with a 4th visiting on weekends. Our experience at Casa Alina was nothing short of amazing!! The home is beautiful, authentic to the region and filled with things that make you feel at home. The housekeeper who welcomed us was friendly and always available to answer our questions. The neighbors and town were great as well and always friendly, welcoming and helpful. The region has A LOT to offer and although we were there for a month, another 4 weeks would be necessary, just to see half of all the small towns and quaint villages surrounding the area! Our trips to Florence several times per week, were quick (we hit traffic only once due to construction), efficient and wonderful and were able to visit 8 other towns and villages nearby. We spent several days relaxing at home, enjoying the backyard with the beautiful view. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms brand new and Kimberly always helpful on the phone. The only minor issues had to do with the room in the attic, which is gated and with a curtain for privacy, but not helpful with a toddler and a baby sharing one space (if they both sleep through the night, there is no issue whatsoever) and the lack of amenities in the kitchen. Although there were plenty of coffee machines available, the kitchen wasn't made for a Chef - there are all the amenities for a simple meal, but the knives weren't sharp, the blender isn't powerful enough and the oven isn't strong enough so if you're looking to buy and cook yourself, then know that the kitchen (or at least the appliances, as the kitchen itself is fine) need an update. However, there is a delivery of food to your doorstep so if you'd rather be looked after, then you can easily order (in advance) some delicious homemade cooking! Overall 5 Stars and a wonderful experience - we highly recommend Casa Alina!

An amazing place to stay in the heart of Tuscany. Our family of five (three kids, two adults) absolutely loved Casa Alina - a beautiful kitchen to enjoy some of the best foods Tuscany has to offer, comfortable beds, and a great outdoor space for the kids to play in. Wonderful neighbors, beautiful fields to walk in nearby, and short drives to some of the most beautiful medieval towns in all of Italy.
