There is lots of space to run around Villa Maura, with a huge shared park with soccer goals, hammocks and a large gated pool. The owners provide a baby kit, which includes a crib with bed linens, baby bath, high chair, changing mat and child table set. Please request these items on booking - they are available at no extra charge. The kids have a dedicated bedroom with 2 twin beds and a day bed, and there is also a room with a ping pong table.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days. The shared unheated pool is gated, with a protection barrier, self-closing and self-locking gate, that opens backwards. The pool is shared with the guests of the 6 apartments in the property. Children may need supervision on the balcony. Stair gates are available - please request on booking. For this location, a car is essential. You can use Villa Maura as your base and take day trips to different places such as Lucca, Firenze, San Gimignano, Pisa, and more. It is well located for this type of holiday, but is highly enjoyable if your plan is just to relax and use the pool as well. Note that this property has no television, and no toys and books are provided.

About the Location

Villa Maura is about 5 minutes by car from Fucecchio, a town equidistant between Florence and Pisa in the heart of Tuscany. The villa is situated on a hill in typical Tuscan countryside. Near the villa (15 minutes’ walk / 2 minutes drive), there is a small shop where you can get the most urgent things. The shop also offers a bread delivery service, on weekends and week days. Fucecchio itself has a fairly large Coop supermarket with a bakery, cold cuts and cheese counters, organic fruit and vegetables, meat counter and fishmonger counter. The property is 50.4 km from Florence airport and 42.3 from Pisa airport.

Style Notes

Light and bright. This modern villa has contemporary furnishings throughout and is lovingly decorated with many mirrors and pictures. From the balcony of the master bedroom, there is a wonderful view over the shared pool and the green valley. We love the shared grounds, with fantastic places for children to play, and the great location, which puts all of the best sights and ancient villages of Tuscany within easy reach.

My name is Tiziana Fierli. I was born and raised in Tuscany, I still live in my hometown, Fucecchio. My father Furio fell in love with this property in the 90s. In Italy, starting a renovation project requires a lot of patience! The property had no running water, electricity nor heating! My family is in the fashion business, we have been making shoes (!), working for the finest labels. I was very distant from the holiday business! Now I am fully immersed into it! We started slowly, trying to put ourselves in the shoes of our guests. We started from the essential, with the first Dutch guests that, once arrived at La Scuola di Furio, were surprised that we provided toilet paper rolls (!); then we put a dishwasher in every unit; then having the wi-fi; then create a pitch where children can play football; the last one was fencing the pool for the safety of our younger guests.

Fucecchio, Tuscany

Ancient towers and a nature reserve

An hour west of Florence, Fucecchio is a large town with ancient buildings, close to Chianti's vineyards and a variety of beautiful hilltop villages. Spend some time exploring the gardens, piazzas and gelato shops of Florence on a day trip and enjoy the peace of Fucecchio's nature reserve when you return.
