Perks for the Parents

This family-friendly villa just a short hop from the beach in Costa Brava, Spain comes with a private saltwater swimming pool. It sleeps 10 + 2. This is a great space for the whole family to relax on a classic sunshine vacation. Kids can splash safely in the pool while parents relax by the water or cook family meals out on the barbecue. The interiors are stylish yet calming - the perfect mix of traditional Spanish style and contemporary updates - to please design-conscious parents. When you’re ready to explore, this laid-back town has a choice of child-friendly eateries and a beautiful sandy beach, as well as a picturesque harbor and miles of sun-drenched coastline to explore.

Why Kids Love it

They’ll love the dedicated kids’ rooms (with plenty of toys and books) where there’s enough room to share with siblings, cousins, or friends, as well as the amazing private pool (which is easy for parents to view from the house), and a kid-friendly desk for drawing or eating more comfortably. This area is well known as a great spot for families, with lots of beach-front parks and child-friendly eateries to wander around in the evenings - kids are nearly always welcome in restaurants here. Older children and teenagers can try diving or water sports, while little ones will love the nearby amusement park and playground. It’s 10 minutes’ drive to the larger resort of Platja d’Aro, which has an adventure park, cinema complex, and water park (plus miles more sandy beaches).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: July 3 nights; August 6 nights; 2 nights the rest of the year. Safety notes: there is a gate for the pool and bed guards on the upper bunk beds, as well as window guards and stair gates for the tricky spiral staircase. There are a number of steps in the garden so younger children should be supervised outside. Sorry - no parties allowed, this is a quiet and residential neighborhood. On the 3rd floor of the building there is an attic apartment that is rented separately from the rest of the house, the only shared areas are the front door and there is no shared access inside the house. Guests renting Casa Maria will have a private entry and set of stairs for themselves. Car hire is not strictly essential as the location is central, but there is free parking available just 4 minutes’ walk from the property. The residence comes with air conditioning, 2 washing machines (one outside), tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Ask the hosts for baby and toddler essentials such as a baby bath, kitchen utensils, babysitting services and a high chair.

About the Location

Casa María is located in the center of Sant Feliu de Guixols, in Costa Brava, Spain. It’s around half an hour by car to Girona Costa Brava airport. It’s just off the Main Street (rambla) and less than half a mile to the beach. Sant Feliu de Guixols is the best area for kids - they can find the beach, parks, walks, woods - all within easy reach, and there’s also a public library right in front of the house. The whole family will love the beach-front amusements and rides, as well as spotting the sparkling boats on the harbor. Top tip: Christmas is also a really special time here and popular with visitors and families: everything is decorated beautifully for the festive season.

Accommodation Details

This villa has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Downstairs, there’s a large open plan kitchen/dining room, as well as a bathroom (with bathtub) and living room. This floor leads out to the backyard which has a beautiful saltwater pool, lounging areas, barbecue, outdoor fridge, and dining area. Upstairs, there are 4 big bedrooms: 1 with a kingsize bed; 1 with a queensize bed; a children’s bedroom with 2 single beds, and another kids’ room with 2 sets of bunk beds. Hosts provide 2 cribs for little ones. This floor also has 2 bathrooms.

Style Notes

This cozy house has been lovingly decorated by the owners, with a mix of contemporary styles and simple colors to complement the historic building and its period details. The hosts have chosen lamps by Spanish designers like Miquel Milà, Santa Cole, and Pet Lamp, as well as comfortable yet stylish furniture, plus a mix of wooden and natural materials. The traditional features shine through (think exposed wooden ceiling beams, classic terracotta tiles, and original long window shutters) while the modern furniture used outside adds a striking touch. We love the use of pattern in the bathrooms (one with fruit print wallpaper, another with terrazzo tiles), the eye-catching blue arched windows, and the quirky spiral staircase.

Hi! Im from chile, but i live in Barcelona 14 years ago. We are a family of 5, my catalan husband and 3 kids! We are always looking for kid friendly places for spend some time and be confortable, so when we have the opportunity of make all over this house, we were thinking on a place for people like us. We love Barcelona for living and also going to Sant Feliú whenever we can, because its a great place to be any time of the year. I like people, so its great to get knowing more by KidandCoe!

Girona, Costa Brava

On the Onyar River

This historic city an hour north of Barcelona is known for its restaurants, but don’t panic if your kids aren’t into fine dining, there are fantastic bakeries and riverside cafés here too. Leave the car and stroller at home and pack comfortable shoes for a day wandering the city's cobblestoned streets, its museum and its cathedral. Then explore the coast to the north: a 40-minute drive will take you to fishing villages, Greek ruins and a castle once owned by Salvador Dali.
