The Hillcrest Residence
Perks for the Parents
Thoughtfully designed for families, this warm and spacious Glendale home blends 1930s charm with modern comfort. It sleeps 6 + 2. The kitchen retains its original character, yet is fully updated for modern life and opens to a dining area which seats the whole family. The primary bedroom includes a California kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom, and TV with streaming, so you’ll have a sanctuary to relax away from the kids. Extras parents will appreciate include central A/C, a washer/dryer, piano, record player, board games, and artist-designed interiors. Outside, a gated backyard offers a reflexology path, covered patio with dining table and hammock, plus a gas grill for easy family dinners.
Why Kids Love it
This home is full of kid-friendly fun, especially for toddlers and children under 10. The cheerful kids room is stocked with toys and books, with plenty of floor space to play. A travel crib and kid-sized chairs are also available for the littlest guests. Outdoors, the gated backyard offers heaps of fun: kids can play on the swing set, have a game of ping pong, blow bubbles, or ride bikes and scooters along the quiet sidewalks. They can even dig and help grow things in the vegetable garden, and the yard is often visited by butterflies, hummingbirds, and plenty of little garden lizards that kids love to chase. In the local area, you’ll find plenty of parks and green spaces: Brand Park, known for its historic library, art center, and hiking trails, is just minutes away, while Nibley Park offers shaded playgrounds and open lawns ideal for younger children. A nearby public pool and splash pad add to the outdoor fun, especially during warmer months.

Style Notes
Designed by a visual artist, the home blends original 1930s charm with thoughtful, creative touches throughout. Bright and airy, the space features vintage details like arched doorways and built-ins, complemented by warm, modern updates. The primary bedroom and children’s room are both wallpapered in playful yet calming patterns that reflect the home’s personality: elegant but not overly formal, comfortable without being cluttered. Art and design books, collected objects, and curated artwork add layers of character, while natural light and open space give the home a welcoming, relaxed feel. We love the historic fireplace, the kids room wallpaper and the super cozy primary bed.
