Perks for the Parents

Set in a quiet, elevated spot with panoramic views of the Côte d'Azur and Esterel mountains, this elegant 1920s Provencal villa has beautiful, airy interiors and a state-of-the-art specification. It sleeps up to 8. There is Apple TV, Sonos and a single button control of the electrical shutters. The L-shaped heated pool (max depth 2.5m) is spectacular and links to terraces for sunbathing and al fresco dining. Walk from the door or take a jog along the hilly lane which leads to woodland walks and more views. The terraces and gardens are blessed with sun all day long – enjoy sunbathing next to the olive and eucalyptus trees or cool off in the house – there is air conditioning in every room. There is much to explore out and about but you’ll find it very hard to leave this sumptuous space.

Why Kids Love it

The grounds are gated and very private so kids will feel safe here. There are citrus trees to pick fruit for breakfast and rosemary and lavender scent the air. The pool is heated so will be popular with even the youngest of visitors – it also has a safety cover and alarm. Younger children may need to be supervised on the steps and terraces. Kids will enjoy the perfumeries in Grasse, or a 15 minute drive up into the mountains is Riviera Nature, an adventure park with tree climbing, rope passages and a climbing wall with courses for kids (and big kids). Less than 30 minutes away is Gorges du Loup, a river canyon where you can hike, canyon, pothole or just go and see the spectacular view and 3 waterfalls.

Style Notes

1920s elegance. This maison provençale is said to be originally a gift from a noble duke to his mistress. Today, guests can enjoy this high-end villa with its vast bedrooms with fine furnishings and luxurious ensuite bathrooms. Beautiful arched doors in the living area lead out to the sweeping terraces looking out towards the French Riviera and surrounding landscapes. The neutral palette of the interiors draws your eye to the views outside and make the spaces relaxing. We love the large kitchen-diner where you can cook with local produce from the market while entertaining – try a glass of rosé from the owner's winery – and the gorgeous grounds with Mediterranean plants and flowers. A true slice of heaven.

Grasse, French Riviera

The perfume capital of the world

Grasse is known throughout Provence for its beautiful scents and flower-filled fields. Traverse the narrow streets of the old town, explore limestone caves in the nearby hills or train your nose in the Fragonard and International Perfume museums. A half-hour drive takes you away from the mountains to the beach, with the glittering towns of Cannes, St Tropez, Nice and Monaco easily accessed for a daytrip.
