Perks for the Parents
A peaceful penthouse apartment in Greenpoint, NY with a spacious terrace and spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline. It sleeps 4 + 1. This fantastic city home is kid-friendly without being kid-centric. The hosts have intentionally kept the living area minimal in its design, with a light and airy feeling and the expansive terrace is a great spot to spend time as a family, share meals at the picnic table, or simply enjoy the amazing views of Manhattan. When you're ready to venture out, you’ll find Greenpoint and nearby Williamsburg are brimming with top-rated restaurants, beautiful parks, family activities and easy access into Manhattan by subway, bike, or ferry boat.
Why Kids Love it
Children under 10 will find many toys, books and activities to love in the children’s bedroom: there’s a large area rug for playing, a kid's workspace and thoughtful books and toys for parents and kids to enjoy. There’s also a cool bunk bed that’s fun for siblings or friends who want to share, and an open layout kitchen and living room that makes it easy for kids to play while parents cook or enjoy their morning coffee. Within a 15-minute walk, you’ll find 8 different playgrounds, waterfront parks (where kids can play while watching boats pass and sea-planes land in the East River!) as well as 3 indoor play-spaces, a public pool, an outdoor produce market, and many kid-friendly restaurants that are great for dining in or take-out.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 5 nights. Safety notes: this home has 2 outdoor/balcony areas. The one located off the kids room remains locked for safety reasons. The larger terrace off the living room has high visibility from the inside, making it easy to keep an eye on your children while they play, but it’s recommended that children be accompanied by an adult on the terrace at all times. There is a bbq on site for guests to use. The apartment is located on the top floor of the building, with very little noise from neighbors and an elevator. The building has a doorman who is present from 7am-11pm daily.
About the Location
The apartment is located in Greenpoint, New York - a wonderful family-friendly neighborhood with parks, playgrounds, a public pool, indoor play-spaces, tons of sports/arts/educational summer camp options, and a very walkable and bike-able neighborhood. It’s very easy to get into Manhattan via subway (about 20 minutes journey time), Greenpoint ferry boat or bike, but you may find you have no need or desire to leave the neighborhood. The nearest subway stations are: L subway (Bedford Ave, 15 minutes’ walk) and G subway (Greenpoint Ave or Nassau Av, both 10 minutes’ walk). It’s around 18 minutes by car to LaGuardia or 35 minutes to JFK airport.

Style Notes
Cool contemporary. This comfortable family home is minimal in its design but warm and inviting in its aesthetic, with lots of natural materials, wood tones and warm lighting. The massive floor-to-ceiling windows and penthouse location make the whole home appear bright, airy and private throughout the day and night. We love the lush fig plants adding a tropic touch to the living space, the industrial-inspired shelving in the kitchen (highlighting the neat and compact breakfast bar) and the chunky modern outdoor sofa.
