With direct access to the beach via a few steps, this is a great oceanside family getaway. The primary suite has a kingsize ocean-facing bed and an impressive fire to warm up after a cold dip. Rustle up a feast in the fabulous open plan kitchen, and later toast marshmallows on the fire pit under the stars to the sound of the waves.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love being able to run down to the beach and boogie board or surf on nearby beaches. There’s also a putting green and, of course, the hot tub. For little ones, there’s a Pack ‘n Play and a high chair available. The hosts can provide board games on request. Venture out to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, where kids can explore tide pools and observe marine life up close such as sea urchins, starfish, and crabs.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The drop off from the hot tub and the uneven garden makes this unsuitable for toddlers unless very closely supervised. There are stairs leading up to the front door of the property and also stairs leading down to the lower level. Indoor stairs can be closed off with a sliding glass door. There is an upper balcony. A rental car is essential to get around and enjoy your location. A crib is available for babies / toddlers, as well as 2 high quality double air beds for additional guests. Please note that the water is cold in this part of California so swimming usually requires wetsuits that you can rent nearby.

About the Location

This place is right on the beach of Moss Beach, a small coastal town in San Mateo County, California. It’s about 20 miles south of San Francisco and San Francisco International airport (SFO) (both a 25-30 min drive). This is surfing country and you’ll be near some great surfing spots like Pacifica State Beach (10 mins) and Half Moon Bay (12 mins). Moss Beach is a great place to spot whales, particularly during the migration season and whale watching tours are locally available.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on 2 floors. The primary kingsize bedroom is on the 1st floor with an ensuite with a shower and bath tub. It has an open fire and its own lounge area with sofas and armchairs facing floor-to-ceiling windows. The other kingsize bedroom is also on this floor with its own full bathroom. The living room, also facing the ocean, is upstairs with a fireplace and a large sectional. The chef’s kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances, window seats, a breakfast bar seating 3 and a dining table seating 4. Outside is a small putting green, a hot tub and a patio with a table and chairs next to the fire pit.

Style Notes

Endless Summer. This ocean-front oasis has been designed to take advantage of its beach location with large picture windows showing the crashing waves of the Pacific. The house is filled with natural light. Minimalism décor is offset with wood accents, natural textures and blues and greys to compliment the natural world outside. Beds are sumptuous with white linens and lots of cushions. The bathrooms both have tubs for a relaxing soak and are stocked with Aveeno shampoo and conditioner and Meyers body soap. We love the alcoves and nooks for curling up with a book or staring at the ocean; the luxurious primary suite with the fireplace and views; and the putting green for family fun.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
