Perks for the Parents

This spacious country house with a fire pit and garden overlooks fields, is walking distance to the local pub, and has toys, games and consoles to keep kids of all ages entertained. It sleeps up to 8 + 1. Geivden House is well set up for families and large groups with a fully equipped playroom and a new kitchen-diner that can comfortably seat 8 with a separate living room for relaxing in. The house has large bedrooms with the master and second bedroom both having ensuites and a family bathroom with a bath for the children. The Hawk Inn local pub has great food and is a 12-minute walk.

Why Kids Love it

The house is well stocked with toys and books for all ages and has a new 18 foot above ground splashpool. A dedicated playroom has toys as well as an Xbox and digital TV. The garden is geared up for both kids and adults with a hammock, fire pit and seating area. There is also a football goal, cricket catching net, free-standing trampoline (with ladder) and various garden games. A children's play area in the village (2 minutes’ walk) has a large green space that is good for ball games. A Hawk Conservancy Trust in the village is open daily and has 150 birds of prey with flying displays and there is go-karting and motor racing in Thruxton, 10 minutes’ drive away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. Geivden House is on a no-through lane and is very quiet. There are country walks directly from the house that can be accessed via a gate at the bottom of the garden. The garden is fenced and there is a gate at the top of the drive that can be closed. The pool is 54 inches deep and is not gated but is above ground and accessible only by a ladder. It is heated by a solar pod. The trampoline does not have a net but is on grass. The house is pet-friendly and would allow one well behaved dog. There is generally a dog living at the house, if allergies are an issue. A travel cot and high chair are available on request but there are no stair gates. A car is recommended to make the most of the area and there is plenty of private parking at the property.

About the Location

The residence is in Amport, a village in north west Hampshire. Peppa Pig World is 40 minutes’ drive, while Stonehenge is just 20 minutes away by car. It is about an hour’s drive from Heathrow Airport and 30 minutes from Southampton Airport. There is a station in the next village that has a direct train to London Waterloo and to Exeter. The A303 is 5 minutes away. The larger town of Andover is 3 miles away and provides supermarkets and most services while Winchester and Salisbury are 20 minutes away in either direction.

Accommodation Details

The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with over over 3000sq ft of living space. A new fitted kitchen with granite worktops and doors out to the garden has a breakfast bar and a dining table seating up to 8. There is a living room with a bay window and sofas and a playroom with a TV. Upstairs are 2 kingsize bedrooms – 2 with ensuite bathrooms and 2 kid’s bedrooms with 2 twin / single beds in each. There is a family bathroom with a shower and tub. Outside is a large garden facing onto fields with a table and chairs, a fire pit with seating, a hammock and outdoor games.

Style Notes

Country chic. The house is light and bright with spacious, comfortable rooms and a living room with a woodburner. The décor is mainly contemporary with a few antique pieces. We love the large garden that’s great for socializing in and playing, the living room that’s a comfortable adult space for reading the newspapers in and relaxing, and the lovely location – peaceful and in the middle of the countryside, yet close enough to the many surrounding attractions.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We are a family of 5 who are all sport mad and love being outside. We do lots of cycling, swimming and walking plus all the other sports associated with 3 boys! We love our home and love having guests to stay especially now we have extended the garden and now have a ready made sports pitch!

Thank you so much for hosting us in your lovely home. We had everything we needed for a relaxing countryside break and the small people loved the games room and trampoline. It was amazing to be able to walk into fields from the back of the house. I’d highly recommend a stay here.
