Perks for the Parents

Beautiful interiors and lush gardens in sought-after West Hampstead. It sleeps 8. This home delivers on the traditional expectation of London’s Hampstead: old English charm, greenery and classic architecture. Parents will love the pretty garden, which boasts hidden spots for relaxing and a patio and terrace for al fresco dining. It’s a short walk to cafes, shops and train stations for access around the city and yet you’ll feel like you’re in a safe and residential home-from-home. Beatles fans should also know it’s just around the corner from Abbey Road, where you can recreate that iconic pedestrian-crossing shot.

Why Kids Love it

The house has plenty of bedroom options for siblings to share or have their own space, as well as a bunk room (not yet pictured) with a selection of toys and books for kids. This part of London is well-placed to explore Regents Park (for London Zoo) as well as vast Hampstead Heath. Closer to home there’s a playground less than 10 minutes away on foot (Kilburn Grange Park).

Things to Know

No smoking, pets or parties. The house is set over 3 floors. The primary bedroom is located on the top floor, with a raised mattress bed on the floor. The garden is split over 2 levels, with a raised terrace above, and a lawn and patio below and spiral stairs which may be tricky for toddlers. A gardener comes once a fortnight (sometimes more often in the summer months), but can let himself in via the side gate. A housekeeper will also attend once a week, unless requested otherwise. The time and day of this will be confirmed during booking. The garden studio will not be accessible.

About the Location

Located just moments from West Hampstead underground station (8 minutes on foot) and Kilburn High Road station (10 minutes) it’s a quick journey to get into town or explore the wider Hampstead neighborhood. Hampstead Heath is just 5 minutes on the underground, where you can explore National Trust properties, Parliament Hill playground and paddling pool, the lido and the separate mens and ladies bathing ponds. It’s a short drive or 20-30 minutes’ stroll to the pretty streets and artisan delis of Primrose Hill, Belsize Park or Queens Park. Paddington station is 15 minutes by car or train for fast access to Heathrow airport.

Accommodation Details

The house has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. On the ground floor you’ll find a living area at the front and a kitchen/diner at the back, together with an additional dining area and a garden room. The primary bedroom is located on the top floor, with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with a freestanding tub. The other 4 bedrooms are on the middle floor: bedroom 2 has a set of bunk beds (not pictured), bedrooms 3 and 4 both have 2 single beds, and bedroom 5 has 1 single bed.

Style Notes

Period townhouse. The hosts have updated the traditional townhouse aesthetic with a fresh eye for interiors. A soft, light palette keeps things fresh, decorated with colorful vibrant art pieces to add interest. Opening onto the garden behind, exposed brickwork and a glass roof bring the outside inside, so you can enjoy a morning coffee with views of the garden. We love the antique wood-burner in the living room, the classic wood flooring and the elegant window shutters.

Hampstead, London

This leafy London suburb is known for the gloriously green Hampstead Heath and its artistic and creative inhabitants, including John Keats.

Explore the village-style shops and charming neighborhood restaurants, taken an open water swim in the ponds or marvel at the spectacular views of the city: the peak of Parliament Hill is over 300ft high.
