Perks for the Parents

This style-driven apartment in the heart of fashionable Copenhagen is great for a weekend break with children, with brand new renovations and interiors. The hosts have recently renovated the apartment following guest feedback so there is now a new, natural flow between the living/dining/kitchen areas, where you can easily relax, cook or eat with the family. What's more, the vibrant, colorful interiors have been featured in a Danish style magazine. Step from the doorstep on to cobbled streets, walk around the corner to find a public park and playground, and stroll around the area to discover museums, cafés and boutiques.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment has books and toys for children aged 5 and up, including Lego and some older girls' toys. Note that 1 kids room doesn’t have a window and has a partial door leading from the living room. This creates a cozy den-like room that's ideal for kids who need a darker space for a good night's sleep! This room also has a walk-in closet which guests can use during their stay. The King’s Garden nearby has family shows and events in summer plus a lovely fairytale-themed playground.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The host has updated the property in March 2022 to respond to guest feedback and improve the environment, including a new layout of the living space and a new bathroom. The property is set over 1 floor and is on the third floor of an apartment building with elevator access. Car rental is not necessary; the residence is easy to reach via public transport or taxi. Parking is limited nearby; there is bike parking outside. Bike rental is recommended to get the best of the city, otherwise it’s easy to walk everywhere, or take the bus, water taxi or S-train if you plan to visit art galleries and attractions outside the main city center. There is WiFi throughout.

About the Location

The residence is in Indre By, aka Copenhagen’s inner city, in a safe and quiet location. This characterful and historic area has cozy bars and cafés, along with cobbled streets and cultural venues around each corner. There are 2 supermarkets within a 5-minute walk, and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. It is a short walk to Nyhavn and to the Little Mermaid; Tivoli Gardens, the city’s historic amusement park, and the King’s Garden, a public garden with a lovely playground, are all a stroll away. It is 20-30 minutes from Copenhagen Kastrup airport by train, and 10-15 minutes by taxi.

Accommodation Details

This one-floor apartment has 3 compact bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The large living room and dining area has been redesigned in 2022 to create quieter spaces and more privacy, and this area leads to a compact kitchen. There is also some storage space for shoes/outdoor wear in the hallway. The newly-renovated bathroom has a walk-in shower, the other bathroom is a smaller washroom/WC. The primary bedroom has a queensize bed while the children’s bedrooms each have a single bed with under-bed storage. Although there is no garden, there is a public park across the street.

Style Notes

Modern Danish. Danish design has a great reputation for good reason: this is a great example of an apartment that is fresh and modern yet full of charm at the same time. Set on a wonderful street, the apartment has high ceilings, wooden floors and light-reflecting white walls. The living room is playful, with gymnastic rings as well as lively, with large butterfly prints by Hong Kong artist Simon Birch. We love the vast lounge, the incredible location and the fun kids bedrooms.

Indre By, Copenhagen

Cobbled streets, cozy cafes and designer shops

Copenhagen’s oldest neighborhood, the ‘inner city’, is all cobbled streets, cozy cafes and designer shops. This being Copenhagen, there are plenty of places to play, including The King’s Garden, which stages shows and events for families in the summer. It’s a great location for the modern waterfront and the city’s museums too.

Sara's apartment was a wonderful base for our stay in Copenhagen. It's in a beautiful neighborhood, right next to a park and close to all kinds of amenities. Traveling with kids, sometimes you just want there to be a coffeeshop or a restaurant right downstairs, and in this apartment, not only are there places right downstairs, but they're world-class. The apartment itself was wonderful - the bedrooms are a little tight, but the living and dining rooms are extremely spacious, so it was perfect for hanging out together as a family and then peeling off to private spaces to rest. Sara had every extra we could have asked for and really went above and beyond to make sure we were fully set up and comfortable. I hope to return to Copenhagen before too long, and when we do I'm absolutely going to call Sara first.

This home could not have been more perfect for our family of four! The location was incredible, the views were stunning, the space was so charming and thoughtfully designed, and Sara made us feel totally at home from the moment we arrived. We were smitten with this gorgeous city, and our time here was truly unforgettable, thanks in large part to this fabulous property (and its fabulous host)! If you're planning a family excursion to Copenhagen, this is hands-down THE place to stay!

We have four children aged 2-10 and were in Copenhagen for four nights over a weekend in late August. We had such a wonderful stay. Our older kids loved the cozy bunk beds, there was space for a portable crib, and having laundry and a kitchen were exactly what we needed. The girls loved the indoor swings and rings, all the stuffed animals, and the games and Legos. The host family was super friendly, approachable, and available to answer any questions we had. The location was also perfect for us. Rosenborg Palace, the surrounding King's Park, and Nyhavn are all very close, and Tivoli Gardens is 15 minutes away on foot. There are great restaurants, wine shops and a grocery store nearby, and we all loved just walking around the historic neighborhood. Next time we come back to Copenhagen, we will almost certainly stay at the Christian IXth Residence again!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this property in Copenhagen! Sara was welcoming and ensured we had what we needed to settle in comfortably. Our children spent hours and hours playing with the LEGO and enjoying the ‘swing’, and we had trouble enticing them to leave the house! For anyone heading to Copenhagen, this is a centrally located property within walking distance of absolutely everything. We hope to return in the future! Copenhagen is an amazing city and this is a great property in which to stay and enjoy the best the city has to offer! Comfortable and casual, it’s a perfect home away from home!

We have stayed at many Kid & Coe rentals and this was certainly the most challenging for us. It was a hot week in the summer and there was no AC or fans in the flat and the windows have ZERO safety features and are on the third floor which made it very dangerous with our 2 & 3 yr olds (who could easily have climbed out had we opened the windows)..needless to say we had unpleasant / hot evenings. Also, there are no blackout shades which make for late/light summer nights and early mornings - again, not ideal with little ones. Some other issues: - although Sara greeted us at the flat, she didn't leave any instructions whatsoever - basic things like closest grocery store, where to put the trash, etc would have been greatly appreciated and easy for her to do. - we found a pair of dirty underwear on the side of the bed, making us question the level of cleanliness - prior to arriving the apartment was taken off kid & Coe, which was a big red flag, but Sara called me to explain that neighbours are unhappy with her renting out her place...a bit unsettling looking back. - the photos are incredibly deceiving - the rooms are tiny and it's an old apartment. - we stayed for a week and it was difficult for us to unpack all of our things as Sara clearly lives in the apartment and keeps her stuff there, not ideal for guests staying for more than a few days and wanting to fully unpack. On the plus side, Sara's apartment is in a great location, with an elevator, and she's done an incredible job at decorating it. Plus my kids loved the little drawing table. Overall, not recommended for people traveling with little kids and VERY overpriced for what it is.

What a lovely apartment for our family to stay in! Our seven-year-old loved the cosy bunkbeds and a cot and high chair were provided for our toddler. They both adored the swings hanging in the doorway. The living room was bright and airy and the apartment had everything we needed; communication was good and check-in easy. Most importantly, the location was perfect - right in the centre of things and a short walk to everywhere. A great stay in Copenhagen.

I cannot imagine a better place to stay if you want to explore Copenhagen. Our three year old loved the rings in the living room and the bunk beds with curtains. We loved its proximity to the Kings garden and the awesome coffee shops. It is easy to get everywhere -from walking into the main shopping areas, to the food market at Torvehallerne to the waterfront of Nyhaven. We had the best time and cannot wait to come back again soon

We loved our stay at the Christian IXth residence. Thanks to Sara for being such a great hostess. She was available by text for any questions we had and provided a baby bath upon request. We traveled with a toddler (3 years old) and a newborn (9 weeks) and stayed almost 3 weeks at this property. The location can't be beat. We were so close to several grocery markets, cafes and of course wonderful shops. We also enjoyed daily walks around the neighborhood and over to Nyhavn and the King's Garden (both of which were just a few minutes away). Our toddler enjoyed the toys and the books, as well as the high chair in the kitchen that doubled as a stool that allowed her to help us "cook" in the evenings. Would recommend.

Flat was absolutely lovely. Our children had a lot of fun on her indoor swing, drawing in her art table, and reading all of the Danish books in the apartment. Apartment is in an incredible location - could not be more central, park a block away. Sara was very thoughtful and responsible both in planning, as well as while we were there. We could not recommend this apartment more highly!

We loved our stay. Perfect location! Walking distance to absolutely everything. Kid friendly - the apartment had plenty of toys for kids to enjoy and especially the swing in the middle of living room. The bedrooms are a bit small, but that didn't preclude us from having a comfortable stay. The place is clean, relaxing, sunny and definitely worth the repeat visit.

It would be helpful for the owner to explain more specifically the sleeping arrangements for the children in the description of the apartment. Unfortunately, one of the beds was way too high for our daughter (she sleep walks) and the other bed was too small for our girls to share (not a normal size twin). Based on the description, I had expected normal sleeping arrangements that would fit our family of four in a more comfortable way. Also, written directions for the laundry machine would have been helpful (because it was new) as well as some kind of written suggestions for bike rentals, restaurants, etc. I had expected some kind of welcome packet with recommendations considering that this apartment has been listed for several years. The location was fantastic.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Christian IXth Residence! Not only was the inside family friendly, baby friendly, toddler-friendly, and parent-friendly but the location couldn't have been any better. We walked everywhere from Nyhavn to Stroget. The entire apartment was wonderful for my kids. They played with all the toys, drew pictures at the little art desk, and went to sleep in the crib and the toddler bed happily each night. Sara was a wonderfully attentive host. We can't recommend this place any higher for a family stay in Copenhagen!

We had a wonderful time in Copenhagen and staying at Sara's apartment completes our holiday experience! The apartment is clean, very modern Danish designed and a lot of child friendly toys. The bedrooms were a little small but it was not an issue for us. My daughter loves the bunk bed, Lego toys and playing with the gymnastic rings in the living room. We had a few issues during our stay and Sara was very warm and helpful to attend to it promptly to ensure everything went well for us. For its location, accessibility and child friendliness, this is perfect!

We had a wonderful time in Copenhagen with our family, and especially loved staying at Sara's apartment. The location is fantastic - close to amazing parks, lots of attractions in the city center, and easy to get to transportation. The kids loved playing with the toys, and especially swinging on the rings in the living room. The apartment was beautifully decorated and we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Sara was an excellent host, and we would be happy to come back again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful little apartment. Our little one still needs a day sleep and the location was perfect for that. The girls loved Sofia's bedroom with its bunk bed and cubby house curtains. Wish we had more time to spend here!

Our family of 5 (9 yo twins and a 5 yo) had a wonderful stay here in July. The apartment is beautiful, the location is perfect, and Copenhagen is a lovely city. Sara was very warm and welcoming and left fresh flowers around the apartment, which was a nice touch. It made a world of difference during our travels to not be in a hotel for a few days - the kids loved the bunk beds to explore and the Legos to play with, we all appreciated the extra space to relax in, and I think staying here gave us a better feel for the neighborhood than if we'd been in a hotel nearby.

A very good ad warm place to stay and enjoy the city during winter time as we experienced it. Our two 5 year old twin daughters loved it as well. Sara accepted our last minute extra guests (one adult one child) and we fitted with 6 easily int the apartment. As mentioned in other comments, the kids room is open to the living room so do not plan for loud adult evenings parties.

Wow !! Copenhagen was such a blast, thanks to Sara and this gorgeous place, complete with PRIME location. Our family of 4 settled in perfectly here, in fact, my 4 year old has already asked me when we can return so he can sleep in Sofia's cozy bunk bed. :) This location is SO easy to get to from the Metro, a short walk to many of the best shopping and eats, and Sara even recommended wonderful babysitters for us. We had a great stay and we definitely plan to return (sadly, Tivoli was closed while we were there !) Thanks for the lovely experience.

We had the most wonderful time in the Christian IXth Residence, we cannot recommend it enough. Sara is incredibly warm and welcoming, she went out of her way to accommodate our arrival and departure times, the flat was super clean and very well appointed, we had everything we needed, including a baby cot, high chair, and swing! for our youngest. Our two older girls absolutely loved the bunkbeds and the great selection of toys. The location is absolutely perfect, Copenhagen is a wonderfully charming city, the food is amazing and we would have happily moved right in! We were so grateful to Sara for opening her flat to us so we could discover this wonderful little city.

The welcome was lovely. Location perfect - we could go all around the centre of the city and be back for naptime no problems. Lovely touches such as flowers in every room. Lots and lots of towels which was really appreciated. The baby bathtub was great fun, even for our 4 year old! We put breakable things such as lvoely vases out of the reach of our toddler - it was the only worry, that we would mess up such a beautifuly decorated place! Toys - perfect for our 4 year old. She never had a dull moment. For the 18month old we had to bring things, and again we were worried he would break some of the nicer toys. We felt like we were locals! We didn't want to leave. Highly recommend this flat to any family. And there were enough bed that we could even have fit two more children!

Even though it is in the perfect location - near a wonderful park, great shopping and restaurants - we didn't feel the need to leave the apartment all the time because it was such a nice place to spend time. My two young girls loved the bunk-bed and playing with their variety of toys. I highly recommend it!

This place was amazing! The location was incredible. Right in the heart of everything. Shops nearby. We walked all of the time, even to the awesome Tivoli which was just 20mins. The apartment itself was perfect. Now 3 rooms, there was everything we needed. Cot, bedding, bunk beds, hgighchair, even a baby bath to use instead of the shower. Sara was incredibly helpful, and available for last minute taxi numbers on the bank holiday. Lots of cooking equipment and a run of toys for the kids! We loved it here! Plus as the pictures show, it is beautiful. Only thing that would be useful would be some local hints for places to shop and eat. However there were two guide books in the apartment to use.

The Rantzau-Meyer family is lovely and their apartment was perfect for us! We spent 4 days there with our two small children and had the best time. The apartment is perfectly situated to walk or take the metro everywhere. It was so nice to be able to take the kids for fun adventures during the day and then cook at home when everyone was tired at the end of the day. Sara made it so easy and the whole stay was just perfect!

The lounge/living and the connecting dining spaces are beautifully decorated and large spacious rooms. The kitchen and bathrooms are small spaces that have been well designed to fit the essentials. However they are both of a very basic standard. The children's bunk room is again a beautiful yet small space that is filled with toys. It is actually partitioned off with a stud wall from the dining space. Note there is no ceiling to enclose this room nor heating/thermostat. Would suit children up to the age of 6/7. The other bedroom housed a queen bed. Clean and tidy room but basic. The location of the apartment is wonderful and the building itself was quiet during our stay.

We had an extremely pleasant stay at the Christian IXth residence... the location is just beating what most hotels can offer and the apartment is very cosy yet still functional: you can definitely notice that our hosts have thought through all the details from the decoration to the little attentions for kids. The kid's bedroom is a very nice space and our 2 boys felt like it was home from the first minute. We will come back there for sure if we were to go to Copenhagen again.

We had a wonderful stay in the Christian IXth Residence. This flat is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. The location is great: well connected by foot and bus to lots of things and also in itself situated in a lovely little corner of the city. In the morning we would bring back pastries from a nearby bakery and in the evening it was a cozy place for all of us to hang out. We had a lovely stay and would go back in a heartbeat.

The apartment in Copenhagen was great. i have given the overall experience 4 stars instead of 5 only because we had an 18-month old and the 2nd bedroom (the kids bedroom) had an open ceiling to the living room so our son had a bit of trouble falling asleep. other than that the place is wonderful. sara and her partner were great. the location is excellent; walking distance to a huge park as well as grocery stories and shops. the apartment is so clean and light and great to just relax in. i highly recommend it.
