This beautiful mountain lodge in Piedmont offers 6 sleek and smart apartments in a traditional Walser-style wooden chalet building. Visit the nearby Walser Museum (5 minutes’ drive) for a masterclass in mountain architecture, go for a trek into the hills of the Alta Valsesia Nature Park (5 minutes’ drive) or try out some of the winter sports on offer, including the freeride off-piste skiing. The pretty nearby village has bars, restaurants and spas within walking distance, so you don’t have to go far to enjoy some après ski, or you can head to Milan (2 hours away) for a day trip in this cosmopolitan city.

Why Kids Love it

Babies and toddlers will love playing with the toys and books in the apartments, while older kids and teens can get outdoors and enjoy the skiing or snowboarding - there’s a ski school less than 10 minutes’ walk away in the village. In summer, the whole family can take part in a stand-up paddle-boarding session at to Lake Maggiore or a trip to Ondaland Aquapark (both 1.5 hours’ drive). A bottle warmer, children’s step stool and stroller can be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights or 7 nights, depending on the season. Prices are available on request, depending on your chosen apartment. There is no air conditioning in the apartments. There are free outdoor parking spaces (special permits will be given to guests on arrival) and guests can park in the garage for an additional fee. There is a public laundromat with washer/dryer in the shared complex building, 300 feet away. In winter, a free ski bus service will take you to the ski lift. Pets are allowed for an extra fee. The apartments come with a baby bath, bed rails on lower bunk beds, changing table, and high chair on request, and all have a dishwasher, TV and WiFi. Babysitting services are available on request for an additional fee. Check with the hosts about the individual facilities of your chosen apartment or studio.

About the Location

This residence is located in the village of Alagna Valsesia, Piedmont in the north of Italy. The closest airport is Milan Malpensa (just under 2 hours away). It’s 5 minutes’ walk to the center of the village, which has a choice of shops, bars, spas and restaurants - as well as the ski school. It’s 10 minutes’ walk to the ski slopes and ski facilities. There is a bus stop 300 feet from the apartment and a free ski bus service operates in winter. There are lots of great hiking and trekking trails in this area with beautiful mountain scenery.

Accommodation Details

There are 4 two-bedroom apartments and 2 studio apartments, each available to hire separately or can be booked together. The studios have 1 double sofabed and 1 single Murphy bed, plus a kitchen and a bathroom. The apartments have a master bedroom with 1 double bed and a separate kids room with 2 single bunk beds, as well as a bathroom and an open plan kitchen/living/dining room (with 1 more double sofabed). Hosts can provide travel cribs on request. All the apartments here have an outdoor patio or balcony.

Style Notes

Chic chalet. These bright and modern apartments blend contemporary styling with traditional ski chalet design. From the outside, the building has a typical Walser style, with wooden beams and structures, finished with stone-stacked walls. Indoors, wood is used in a more modern way to create sleek kitchens and sophisticated bathrooms - all in a neutral palette. We love the smart built-in seating in the apartment dining areas, the beautiful wooden balconies and the cozy cabin-style bunk beds in the kids bedrooms.
