Perks for the Parents

Luxurious and rustic, this gorgeous villa with landscaped gardens and a pool is close to local Mediterranean beaches and restaurants. It sleeps up to 11 + 2 and can easily accommodate 2 or 3 families. Eat oven-fresh rolls from the local bakery at the breakfast table outside; retreat inside to lunch together at the long tree trunk table in the dining room, or lie in the shade in comfort next to the pool in the outdoor lounge. In the evening, enjoy a cold glass of cava on the patio, fire up the gas and charcoal BBQs, or take a taxi (10 mins) to harborside restaurants.

Why Kids Love it

This villa is child-friendly with toys and games provided. The pool has a slide and gentle steps down into it where little ones can play. The large lawn is ideal for playing football, cricket, badminton and running around – there’s a swing set too. The kids’ bedroom has an oversized bunkbed and a single / twin sofabed so that 3 children can sleep together. For babies and toddlers there are 2 cots, 2 high chairs, a baby bath and changing mat. The nearby beaches will be a big draw for kids. Other attractions include Algar Waterfalls (1 hr), Aqua Natura Waterpark and the amusement park Terra Mítica (both 50 mins).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. The villa is single story but there are steps from the living room to the kitchen. Two travel cribs are available for babies. There is an electric gate, a shaded car park and additional space to park cars at the front of the house. The pool is unheated and ungated but is separated from the villa by about 20 meters – non-swimmers will need supervision. The garden is fully fenced. The villa is equipped with TV with HDMI, WiFi, washer and dryer and a chef’s kitchen with an oven, microwave and an American fridge to stock enough food and wine. Additional cleaning can be provided on request.

About the Location

Casa Arturo is in the neighborhood of El Tosalet on the outskirts of the small historic town of Jávea, Costa Blanca, about 7 minutes’ drive from the nearest beach of Playa del Arenal. It is an established neighborhood with large villas, fully grown trees and privacy. A small supermarket, bakery and restaurant are within walking distance. Jávea (5km away) is a picturesque fishing village with a tapas bar, bakery, butcher and indoor market where you’ll find fresh local fish, meat, vegetables and fruit. At the harbor are lovely restaurants serving fish caught by fisherman that morning. Javea is 1 hr, 15 mins from Alicante airport and 1 hr, 30 mins from Valencia airport. Car hire is recommended to get to the villa and see the sights.

Accommodation Details

Casa Arturo has 4 double bedrooms and 1 kids bedroom, 3 bathrooms and is on a double plot of 2,600 m2. The spacious living room has sofas, a woodburning stove and a Moroccan reading corner and is open plan to the dining space with a table seating up to 8 (additional chairs can be brought inside if needed). A large fully equipped kitchen has a terrace and a utility room. Through the large entrance is a door to the 2nd hallway with 2 queensize bedrooms and a large bathroom with walk-in rain shower, bath and toilet. Further down are 2 more queensize bedrooms sharing a bathroom with a rain shower and toilet. The children’s bedroom with a bunkbed and sofabed / twin is connected with the living room and kitchen and has its own bathroom with shower and toilet. Two travel cribs are available to sleep babies/toddlers. In the middle of the house is an enclosed garden with seating. At the back of the house are landscaped gardens, a patio with dining and BBQs, a kidney-shaped swimming pool, outdoor lounge and sun terrace.

Style Notes

Relaxed bohemia in a private setting. This spacious villa has been modernized with love and attention. The living room is large with vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and traditional terracotta floors. The Moroccan corner with a view of the garden is ideal for curling up with a book and is decorated with cushions inspired by the colors and patterns of the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains. Bedrooms are comfortable, tastefully decorated and all have built-in wardrobes for storage. We love the big swimming pool with a slide that’ll keep the kids happy for hours, the ‘beach club’ outdoor lounge for a poolside cocktail, and the location that’s private and peaceful but near enough to dip into bustling local life – and out again.

The villa is owned by the family for many years. We recently renovated the villa into a lovely decorated holiday home My wife and our 3 children live in the region of Antwerp and own a business in the food sector.

Javea, Valencia

Whitewashed walls and golden beaches

An hour south of Valencia, Javea (or Xàbia) is a coastal town on the eastern tip of Spain and will be your new travel secret. Think: beautiful beaches, a historic old town and a pretty port, all at the end of the Costa Blanca. Visit the local Roman ruins, try the fresh squid and swim in the clear water.
