A stylish desert retreat designed by artists, set amongst glorious mountain scenery with the National Park entrance in your backyard and downtown Joshua Tree just up the street. It sleeps 6+4. Located in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood by the park, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space to unwind and relax in, this artsy homestead is ideal for 1 family or 2 family groups who enjoy time together, as well as space of their own. The yard is beautifully landscaped, and enclosed, with hammocks, swing chairs and cabanas providing secluded spots to hideaway in and plenty of books you can borrow inside. The large pool is the perfect place to cool off in on hotter days, while the hot tub comes into its own as the sun sets. There’s a feature outdoor clawfoot bathtub and shower with temperature control for added decadence, and patios set up for both daytime yoga/workout sessions and laid back evening gatherings around the firepit. Inside, parents can be sure of a restful night with organic beds and linens, organic soaps/shampoos by Shikai and artworks sourced from local artisans, with a luxurious kingsize bed in the primary bedroom. For nature lovers, there are hiking trails straight from the door.
Why Kids Love it
With a national park on the doorstep and desert scenery all around, this is the perfect base for mini adventurers. Active and nature loving kids will love exploring desert trails with accessible hiking routes and plenty of cacti and wildlife to spot including desert cottontails, quail, insects, snakes, rare Albino lizards and endangered kangaroo mice. All explorers need a place to relax and there’s plenty on offer back at the home with a large swimming pool, hammocks galore and a ‘suspended living room’ with swinging chairs. For downtime, there’s a colorful living room with a 60” flatscreen TV with cable NFL/HBO premier package, board games and a record player with bluetooth connection for kids who enjoy choosing the playlist. Bedroom 4, known as ‘The Den’, doubles as an additional chill out space with a comfy queen sofa bed as well as a twin daybed, ideal for kids looking for some space of their own. Meal times are fun here with a garden full of native fruits and fresh herbs to pick, and an outdoor grill and large alfresco dining table for sunset BBQ’s. Solar lights keep the fun outside at nightfall so guests can gather around the firepit for stargazing and S’mores.
Things to Know
Minimum stay 2 nights. Please note that the pool is ungated and there is a hot tub which younger children should be supervised around. The pool can be heated on request at an additional charge dependent on season and requires at least 24 hours’ notice. The pool & spa service is every Tuesday and Friday between 11am-3pm (they will not enter the home but need to access the backyard). This is a Smart Home equipped with e-locks, solar powered outdoor lights, and the fastest wifi in the area (15mbps). There is aircon throughout. The property has a propane BBQ and firepit and a laundry room including a washer and a dryer. Pets and additional guests are welcome at a fee of $100/night (plus booking fees & taxes, applied per guest over the 4th) to cover extra cleaning and amenity usage. Please note that the home is equipped with a decibel monitoring sensor located inside and outside of the home to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected; the hosts kindly request there is no outdoor noise between the hours of 10pm – 8am in line with county ordinances. There are surveillance recording devices on the property – a ring doorbell at front entrance and security cameras on the corners of house facing the surroundings of property. There are no recording devices that face the private, enclosed backyard. There is private parking for up to 6 cars at the property and an EV charger.
About the Location
The homestead is located in Monument Manor, the closest neighborhood to Joshua Tree’s Park entrance about 15 minutes’ walk away. The property is surrounded by mountains and is located at the highest elevation in Joshua Tree. There are several stables offering horse trekking in the area, just a short drive from the property. Downtown Joshua Tree is around a 15 minute drive and Yukka valley, home to the Hi-desert Nature Museum, is about 20 minutes’, both of which have supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The Joshua Tree Friendly Hills park with climbing frame and playground is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the vacation house. Keys Ranch, a historic ranching station set in a canyon with guided tours is around 30 minutes’ drive. Palm Springs and Coachella are under an hour’s drive away and the Big Bear mountain resorts are an hour’s drive north. The nearest airport is Palm Springs international which is 55 minutes by car.
Accommodation Details
This property has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms set over 1 floor. The spacious downstairs is open plan in style with a comfy living room with chairs and sofas – 1 of which converts to a kingsize bed, a flatscreen TV with cable, a record player and a bistro style table and chair set for coffees and informal dining. It has direct access to the outdoor terrace seating creating a seamless outdoor/indoor space. Through an open arch way at the other end of the room is the fully-equipped kitchen with all a guest would expect in addition to an organic coffee station with chemex pour-over and Ninja coffee/tea cold brew as well as a cappuccino maker, Vitamix blender, and Le Crueset cookware. Through the archway to the left is the dining area with table seating 6, scenic picture window and indoor burner. There is also a cupboard with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a small work area with a desk and a printer. There are 4 bedrooms spread out over the spacious homestead. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed with a private ensuite bathroom; the second bedroom (The Rattan Room) has a queensize bed; the third bedroom (the Palm Room) also has a queensize bed and the fourth bedroom (The Den) has queensize sofa bed and a Twin XL daybed with ensuite bathroom. The outside space is partly gated and enclosed with large outdoor green spaces full of native fruits and a permaculture herb garden. There are numerous patio spaces for yoga/workouts and lots of places to relax including a suspended living room with swinging seating, a hammock area, sun loungers, a cabana and a day bed. There’s a large 8ft deep pool, a 7-person hot tub, gym weights and an outdoor temperature-controlled bath tub and shower with reverse osmosis alkaline mineral water filtration, heated towel rails and ponchos & robes. For alfresco dining there is a large 8 seater table, a propane BBQ and firepit and an outdoor kitchen with all the utensils guests would require.

We love the gorgeously landscaped garden spaces with their mix of cosy hideaways and gathering spots, allowing for blissful moments of peace and connection.
