A luxurious house with desert retreat vibes on the doorstep of the Joshua Tree National Park with a furnished Geodesic Dome in the yard for stargazing and added peace. It sleeps 6+2. Benefitting from the best of all worlds, the residence is set in a safe, quiet neighborhood close to the park, restaurants and stores of downtown Joshua Tree, yet is private enough to feel peaceful. The yard is fully enclosed and there’s a games/music room inside so parents can relax knowing the kids are safely contained, as well as entertained. With plenty of hikes and trails to explore, parents might appreciate a soak in the hot tub with its massaging lounge chair, foot massage jets and waterfall to relax tired muscles. For those preferring to soak up some rays, there are several chaise loungers, a dreamcatcher chair or hammock to chill out in. The air-conditioned geodesic dome also doubles as a zen retreat with floor cushions and bean bags to aid relaxation. For laid back evenings, there’s a BBQ and alfresco dining table beneath a shaded pergola, and a sunken firepit for post-dinner gathering. Parents can be sure of a restful night with luxurious linens, memory foam mattresses and a California kingsize bed in the primary bedroom. All bedrooms are located in the west wing of the home allowing early sleepers, or late risers, to rest while the rest of the group convene in the common areas.
Why Kids Love it
With a desert national park on the doorstep, telescope in the garden, and a cactus ‘museum’ inside, this is the perfect base for mini explorers. Adventure loving kids will love hiking the desert trails with plenty of cacti and wildlife to spot including desert cottontails, snakes, Albino lizards and endangered kangaroo mice. For laid-back days, the vacation home has lots to entertain with a geodesic dome in the garden where kids can set up their own den, a hammock to swing in and an excellent games room with a billiard table and vintage arcade machine with Pacman and all the old favorites. There's a separate music room with a keyboard, a guitar and an LED disco ball for those who prefer dancing to the tunes. While those who prefer an evening movie screening are well catered for with an Apple TV with cable channels. Alfresco dining brings evening fun with an outdoor grill, a dining table lit by Edison lights and plenty of informal seating for a sunset BBQ. At nightfall kids can join their parents to gather around the in-ground firepit for some stargazing, S’mores and storytelling.
Things to Know
Minimum stay 2 nights. Please note that the pool is ungated and there is a hot tub which younger children should be supervised around. This is a ‘smart home’ equipped with e-locks for self-check and high speed wifi. It is a no smoking property. It comes equipped with a propane BBQ and firepit. There is central air conditioning and ceiling fans for cooling. Pets are welcome at an additional $75 cleaning & companion fee per pet. Additional guests are welcome at a fee of $50/night (plus booking fees & taxes) applied per guest over the 4th to cover extra cleaning and amenity usage. The hosts kindly request that there is no outdoor noise between the hours of 10pm – 8am in line with county ordinances. Please kindly note that the outdoor dome is not meant for sleeping in but designed as a daytime relaxation spot. There is private driveway and street parking available and a public EV charging station nearby at Joshua Tree Distillery, which allows charging for up to 2 hours per day.
About the Location
The house is located near downtown Joshua Tree – about 5 minutes by car. The National Park’s entrance is about a 10 minutes away by car. There are several stables offering horse trekking in the area, just a short drive from the property. Yukka valley, home to the Hi-desert Nature Museum, is about 15 minutes’, with more supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The Joshua Tree Friendly Hills park with climbing frame and playground is a 20 minute walk from the vacation house. Keys Ranch, a historic ranching station set in a canyon with guided tours is around 30 minutes’ drive. Palm Springs and Coachella are under an hour’s drive away and the Big Bear mountain resorts are an hour’s drive north. The nearest airport is Palm Springs international which is 50 minutes by car.
Accommodation Details
This property has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms set over 1 floor. The living areas are set up open plan style with a cozy sofa set with bright modern chairs, in-built fireplace, and wall mounted flat screen TV on 1 side and a kitchen/dining area occupying the other. The dining table seats 4 with a breakfast bar seating an additional 4 close by, opening directly onto the terrace where more seating is available. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessities, including a coffee maker and filtered drinking water. There are 3 beautifully styled bedrooms spread out throughout the house. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed with Apple TV and a private ensuite bathroom; the second bedroom has a queensize bed while the third ‘back bedroom’ also has a queensize bed and an Apple TV. The music room which is just off from the kitchen has a full size pull out sofa bed in addition to a guitar, keyboard and telescope. There is a games room with bar table, billiards table, in-built fireplace, TV, and Arcade game player. The outside space is fully gated and includes a patio with a pergola, a lounge sofa set, a dining table seating 6, a BBQ, sun loungers, a hammock and a dream catcher chair. There is a 6 person hot tub, fired by 2 motors, just off the patio. Paved stones lead down the yard to a sunken firepit surrounded by camp fire seating. The feature polyhedron dome is towards the yard’s end and includes climate control, poufs and pillows for ultimate relaxation.

We love the geodesic dome with its soft beanbags, nomadic floor cushions and climate control giving off real desert retreat vibes. The perfect space for families to commune together, or enjoy a peaceful moment apart.
