Perks for the Parents

This sophisticated villa with a new pool is walking distance from local beaches, shops and restaurants, and is in an idyllic location surrounded by landscaped gardens with olive and fig trees. Parents will love the Cocomat beds and linen in the bedrooms (and the luxury toiletries provided on arrival), as well as the expansive landscaped mature garden, set on different levels with a footpath down to the water and Vourkari. The garden is filled with fruit trees (lemon, pear, pomegranate, fig), olive trees and flowers and herbs - and it's beautifully lit at night for romantic evenings. With unobstructed and unrivalled views of Vourkari and the sea/sunset, plus beautifully-designed interiors, this is a luxurious villa for a superlative family stay.

Why Kids Love it

The property is great for kids of all ages, with spacious and light interiors and a lower garden with swings. A new pool with local stone surround and natural salt chlorination system (healthier for kids!) has just been built. There is a pathway to Vourkari giving freedom to older children and teens who can walk to shops, restaurants and local beaches independently. The villa has 2 beaches a short walk away. Well set up for family holidays, the villa includes a good array of baby-friendly equipment, including a crib, travel crib, playpen for outside use, baby monitor, high chair, toys and books, as well as a babysitter available on request (for an extra fee). Plug sockets are safety protected. Kea is the perfect place for a family seeking an authentic Greek island, unspoilt by mass tourism.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. No smoking or pets inside. Note that there are stairs going up and down from the main living space; some safety gates are available but young children may need extra supervision. The balconies have a small wall around them and the whole garden is enclosed. The pool is not gated. The hosts provide a full guide on how to use appliances, along with useful numbers and local tips. They're also happy to help with extra concierge services: daily housekeeping, a private chef, and hairdressing/massage/spa services - all available on demand (for an additional fee). The house has an outdoor cinema facility, Sonos music system indoors and outdoors, air conditioning in all bedrooms and kitchen/living space (and ceiling fans), library of books for guests to use during their stay, and high speed internet.

About the Location

The villa is in Vourkari, a small town on the northwest coast of Kea. It is the island’s natural marina for yachts and is home to a handful of beautiful restaurants, cafés and shops. The villa is a 150m walk from the town, with 2 beaches within walking distance and many more reached by car. Car rental is recommended for this location - nearby activities include diving in Vourkari, hiking trails, Kastriani monastery and the prehistoric ruins of Agia Irini. Vourkari is 10 minutes from Kea’s port; Kea is under an hour by boat from Lavrio, which is very accessible from Athens Airport in 45 minutes. The 'hora', or village on the hillside, Loulida, is only a few kilometers away and well worth a visit. The hosts can arrange boat trips and visits to ancient Karthea on demand (weather permitting).

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom villa has an open plan kitchen, dining and living room. There is a double bedroom upstairs with private deck and ensuite bathroom, and other bedrooms are downstairs: a master bedroom with a kingsize bed, and the third and fourth with 2 twin beds. All downstairs bedrooms have French doors leading to terrace/garden; rooms do not open on to the pool area. Outside there is a large private pool, 2 large pergolas for relaxing and dining, a built barbecue area, a landscaped garden over 2 levels. A pathway leads down to the sea at Vourkari with its yachts, fishermen's boats, tavernas, cafés and boutiques and lovely walks to churches, the faros and beaches.

Style Notes

Luxury living. Chic, minimalist and relaxing interiors have been newly renovated with a leading architect to create this soothing and luxurious space. Polished cement floors and beautiful bathrooms look contemporary and modern, while the generous outdoor spaces and shaded pergolas are beautifully relaxing: wander round the landscaped gardens with olive and fig trees and aromatic plants. The stunning swimming pool uses a natural salt chlorination and filtration system, with local stone surround (pool towels are provided too). We love the sleek white tones on the walls, the exposed ceiling beams in the living area, and the clever 'sunken' TV in the wall.

Kea, Greek Islands

Tranquility, Athenian-Style

Kea is a small, quiet island in the Cyclades archipelago. Apart from the main foreign tourist circuit, yet popular among savvy Athenian families who know how to escape the crowds, this local sanctuary with its sleepy seaside fishing villages, secluded coves, and ancient ruins just might be the best kept secret in the Greek islands.

We had a great week here with our kids .(3) The villa is of very high quality , nicely located out of town but close enough with a couple of beech clubs and numerous tavernas / Beach clubs close. Devika was really kind & helpful You don’t need to hire a car but it makes life easier. We will return
