A luxurious and beautifully-styled villa in Kefalonia with views of the Ionian sea and a private swimming pool. It sleeps 4. Retreat to this peaceful home where often, the only sound is the gentle goat bells nearby. The pool and living area has views over olive groves to the sea, and there are secluded walking trails around the property. Follow the ancient stone footpath that runs along the side of the house to the charming hamlet of Antipata (5 minutes’ walk), with its traditional taverna, mini market and Italian wine bar. The nearest beach is also accessible on foot, and the unique pedestrian-only port town of Fiskardo is only 5 minutes away by car.
Why Kids Love it
The grounds have some beautiful trees and plants, as well as its own small vegetable area that kids will love exploring. The pool is perfect for cooling off in the summer sun, but there’s no pool gate or alarm (plus lots of outdoor steps) so younger kids and toddlers need to be supervised at all times outdoors. The second double room can be made up as 2 twin beds if the kids don’t want to share, and the host can supply optional camp beds, a highchair or a crib on request. For more outdoor play, there is a ping pong table and an outdoor stereo for tunes by the pool.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 7 nights during the high season though shorter stays may be possible on request. Safety notes: there are 2 balcony doors that lead from the living space directly to the pool and outdoor dining areas, so little children will need supervision. The house can be booked together with any of its neighboring properties: Io House, Io Cottage, or The Lime Residence. Parking is ample with private car parking spaces and bays and a private drive. The linen is changed mid week and the hosts are very aware of water reserves and waste, as they are supplied with fresh water truck deliveries. They ask all guests to also be mindful of energy usage and only use really what is required. There is a local team is on hand to look after your every need: from a concierge service to organize everything from private boat hire to tailor-made yoga classes to regular and discrete housekeeping service, garden maintenance and pool cleaning. Sorry - no pets. There is no wheelchair access.
About the Location
The residence is nestled on the beautiful northern tip of Kefalonia known for its peaceful coves and trendy harbor towns. The closest beach is Dafnoudi, a 20-minute walk away along one of the local trails or a 5-minute drive. Most local beaches are pebbly but for those seeking something softer, Alaties bay is semi-sandy. Agia Jerusalem is recommended for families with sun beds and parasols for hire in the high season and a beachside taverna serving up relaxed local cuisine. The Smart Venetian town of Fiskardo is just 5 minutes’ drive away – the center has plenty of boutiques, cafes, bars, bakeries and restaurants to explore on foot. Kefalonia Airport is 1 hour 20 minutes’ drive.
Accommodation Details
The property has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The luxurious primary suite has a double bed and a huge ensuite bathroom with a handmade cement bathtub and walk-in shower. The second double bedroom (optional twin) also has its own indoor/outdoor bathroom with a walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have balcony doors that lead to outer areas and their own morning coffee tables in the tranquil grounds. The large living area has a dining area in front of the kitchen. This area leads onto the living room which has 2 large wide day-bed stone sofas (which could cater for little ones if needed). The infinity pool 10m x 3.5m (1m - 1.7m depth) faces directly to the olive grove that leads to the Ionian sea, with a shower and sun beds on the upper and lower deck areas to take up the sunshine.
Style Notes
Mediterranean boho. The villa has been designed by international stylist Marcus Love, with the intention of having a lateral energetic flowing living space of around 130sqm. Outside, there is the fabulous pergola with a great traditional handmade dining table, hand-crafted lighting features and architectural plant pots. Natural wooden textures and traditional materials have been used to create a calming, earthing space while pops of summer-bold color add a Mediterranean feel. We love the traditional exposed stone walls, the unique lofted ceilings and the painted wooden window shutters.
