Perks for the Parents

This Greek goddess of a villa is set on a hilltop with views of the deep blue Aegean and has a swimming pool, open family spaces and gardens fringed with lavender bushes and fig trees. It is peaceful and quiet. While it is in a remote location, it is close to the main city and a nice taverna. The location is ideal for exploring Kefalonia. The views of the sea are incredible and the surrounding gardens and bursting with tropical blooms. The decor is luxurious and upscale.

Why Kids Love it

There is a great swimming pool, plenty of outdoor space for running around in and some very nice beaches a short drive away. Plenty of kids toys are provided for use inside and out. There is a large bright kids bedroom with a double bunk bed, sleeping 4, and another bedroom with twin beds that works well for kids. There is a hammock in the garden and plenty of shaded spaces to play. A crib and high chair are available. You can see the stars at night from the upper terrace.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days. Weekly housekeeping is included along with linen changes; more frequent housekeeping can be arranged for an extra fee. WiFi, TV and DVD players provided. Note that there are some stone steps and some wall in the gardens that could be tricky for toddlers and for children under 6, but otherwise the upper balcony is fenced and secure.

About the Location

The villa is in Klismata, a very small and quiet village in the southwest of Kefalonia. It is close to most amenities: 15 minutes by car from the airport and the main city Argostoli, 5 minutes from the nearest village and 10 minutes’ drive to the best beaches in the area. Kefalonia can be reached by ferry or air via Athens and a selection of European airports. There are ferry routes to Lefkada, Corfu, and Zante.

Accommodation Details

This 5-bedroom villa has 2 levels, with a master bedroom with queensize bed and bathroom with tub and shower on the upper level, along with a living space and open plan modern kitchen. There is also a large front terrace with sea views. On the lower level there is a central living room with second kitchen, and 4 further bedrooms: 2 with queensize beds, 1 with 2 twin beds and 1 with a double bunk bed, sleeping 4. All the bedrooms have air conditioning. There are 3 bathrooms in total and the house is surrounded by a huge tree and flower-filled garden.

Style Notes

Modern, airy and with a Californian feel. The interior is spacious, light and bright, and tastefully decorated. There is an indoor/outdoor feel with lounging spaces flooded with light inside and out. Rooms are mainly neutral and modern in tone. The outdoor eating area is very pleasant and in the shade. We love the hammocks in the shade, the fragrant herbs around the pool area and the cutesy bird print shower curtain in the bathroom. This vibrant villa is great for a family getaway in the sunshine.

Kefalonia, Greek Islands

Poppy fields and hidden beaches

The largest of the Ionian islands in western Greece, Kefalonia is a paradise island for families. It’s all about the white sand beaches, picnics in poppy fields and boat trips to hidden beaches. Visit the glamorous town of Fiskado in the north, go snorkelling in the clear water or hike in the hills.

The villa was even lovlier than in the photos. The host was very helpful and so was the man who looked after the property. We had an amazing time in Kefalonia and in the Klismata Residence.
