Perks for the Parents

A 4-bedroom family home in Kensington Olympia, with cute kids rooms and 2 separate living spaces. It sleeps 7. Parents will appreciate the sophisticated features of this home - grand bay windows, traditional artwork and period fireplaces - which elevate the interiors. Despite the elegant architecture, the home feels cozy and relaxed, with a lived-in family feel so you won’t feel out of place with kids in tow. The primary bedroom is also a real haven for relaxation for parents, with its own fireplace, ensuite bathroom and double windows.

Why Kids Love it

Children will love having the top floor to themselves, with 2 twin bedrooms which have a selection of toys and books to enjoy. As well as the garden, kids can run off some steam at Brook Green park and playground, which is literally at the end of the street, so even the littles of legs can walk the journey for some outdoor fun and the park’s ice cream parlor. It’s also just 10 minutes on the tube to South Kensington, where you’ll find the city’s best museums: the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the V&A.

Things to Know

This home is spread over four floors with no internal elevator. This is a family home and so does show some signs of wear and tear. The fireplaces in this home are ornamental. There is limited phone reception on the lower ground floor. The iMac pictured in the office is not for guest use. Your host's au-pair lives in the studio at the end of the garden. The studio has separate access so she should not disturb you during your stay. This home doesn't have air-conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period. The crib photographed in the fourth bedroom is no longer present. Complimentary Lovevery Play Kit for kids (0-4yrs) during your stay T&C's apply.

About the Location

The property is located in Kensington Olympia, a residential and leafy part of West London. You’ll find a few local pubs and neighborhood restaurants nearby within walking distance at Brook Green, with a small convenience store around the corner. It’s a 15-minute stroll to the lively center of Shepherds Bush. Walk south to the vibrant Kensington High Street for a choice of shops and eateries, ending up at the west side of Hyde Park (30 minutes on foot) or explore the Design Museum in Holland Park gardens (20 minutes’ walk). It’s just a 6-minute stroll to the nearest tube station, Kensington Olympia for access to Notting Hill (15 minutes) or the city center (30 minutes).

Accommodation Details

The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. At the entrance level there’s a sophisticated living room and office area, as well as a WC. The other living spaces are on the lower ground floor: a relaxed open-plan kitchen/living/dining area and access to the garden. Upstairs, the primary bedroom has a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and shower. This floor also has a fourth single bedroom, with space for a travel crib (the full crib pictured is no longer in situ). The top floor has two twin rooms, ideal for kids, together with a family bathroom (with bathtub) and a separate shower room.

Style Notes

Natural elegance. The hosts have chosen a light and pale palette throughout, which feels fresh yet calming. The soft grays and light painted woodwork feel traditional, blending well with the property’s period features. We love the primary bathroom, distinguished by its striking collection of artworks and smart seating area, as well as the clever hidden TV area in the downstairs living room, and the cute kids bedrooms.

Kensington & Chelsea, London

Hyde Park, Harrods and Her Majesty

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has a certain cachet. It’s where you’ll find Buckingham Palace, Sloane Square, the King’s Road, Harrods and many of the most upmarket stores and areas of the city. For kids, Hyde Park is a must-do, whether you go boating on the Serpentine on summer or enjoy the kid-friendly cafés around it. It’s a central area very well connected with the rest of the city by bus and Tube.

We really loved our stay at the Caithness Road Residence. The property is located in Brook Green, which is a lovely little neighborhood - it is really well connected to Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush, Westfield - anywhere you need to go centrally it a short tube ride away. The home is one block away from one of the best playgrounds in London, and has tons of great family-friendly restaurants nearby - we loved nearby Pentolina and the Popesye Steak restaurant with our kids. The house has lots of space to spread out but the sitting rooms and kitchen / telly area offer a lot of space to be connected, also. The home is filled with books and art, which we loved. Highly recommend for an authentic visit to London in a charming family home.
