Perks for the Parents

Stay in one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods, within walking distance of the family-friendly museums in South Kensington. It sleeps 5/6. This beautiful home is great for relaxing at the end of a busy day sightseeing in the city. It feels calm and spacious, with a separate middle floor suite and ensuite bathroom for parents (kids can have their own space on the top floor). Wander out for morning coffee, visit the shops of Knightsbridge or Kings Road, then take the kids to explore the amazing museums of South Kensington - it’s the perfect family-friendly spot.

Why Kids Love it

While the house doesn’t come with toys or books for little children, it’s great for school-age-or-older kids and it’s in the perfect part of London to explore the city’s best children’s museums - The Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the V&A are all less than 15 minutes’ walk and you can spend days visiting this area alone. Teens will love wandering down nearby Walton Street for buzzing cafes and coffee shops, while the whole family can enjoy trips to The Saatchi Gallery (15 minutes’ walk) or days out exploring vast Hyde Park (less than 15 minutes by car or subway).

Things to Know

Check in: 4pm. Check out: 11am. Sorry - no pets, but a dog does live in this home so it’s not suitable for those with allergies. The homeowner's housekeeper will visit the home at 8:30am on Tuesdays, and at 11:30am on Thursdays. The fireplace is ornamental. This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period. Some noise from the nearby train station can be heard inside the home, particularly during the day. The lead guest must be 25 years of age. A £1000 hold on a credit or debit card will be taken on arrival, which will be released once we confirm no damage was caused during your stay. Guest ID will also be required on arrival.

About the Location

The property is located in South Kensington, just off fashionable Walton Street, one of Chelsea’s most desirable hangout spots. You’ll be surrounded by fantastic cafes and eateries, as well as independent and designer boutiques. South Kensington underground station is less than 10 minutes’ walk, so it’s easy to get into the heart of the city - 15 minutes by tube to Westminster. The Museums of South Ken are also 10-15 minutes on foot, as is the famous Kings Road (Sloane Square end) for Peter Jones, Duke of York’s Square and The Saatchi Gallery.

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 3 floors with no elevator. On the entrance level you’ll find the living room, kitchen/diner and 1 WC. Upstairs, the primary bedroom has a kingsize bed and a modern ensuite bathroom, with a double shower. On the third floor, the family bathroom has a decadent bathtub. The second bedroom also has a kingsize bed, while the third bedroom has a small double/single suitable for 1 adult or 2 children (this room also has a hanging rail which is not pictured). There’s also a paved courtyard garden accessed via the patio doors (BBQ not for guest use).

Style Notes

Calm elegance. The cozy living area features herringbone wood flooring and plenty of period features, including a gorgeous bay window and an ornamental fireplace. Things brighten up in the kitchen, which boasts marble countertops and fresh white floor tiles - it's beautifully light and airy thanks to a large skylight and patio doors. We love the bold wallpaper and black sink in the downstairs WC, the gorgeous bay window in the living room and the unusual fabric four-poster bed.

Kensington & Chelsea, London

Hyde Park, Harrods and Her Majesty

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has a certain cachet. It’s where you’ll find Buckingham Palace, Sloane Square, the King’s Road, Harrods and many of the most upmarket stores and areas of the city. For kids, Hyde Park is a must-do, whether you go boating on the Serpentine on summer or enjoy the kid-friendly cafés around it. It’s a central area very well connected with the rest of the city by bus and Tube.
