Perks for the Parents

A grand yet welcoming family-friendly hotel on the door step of Hyde Park, with a dedicated kids concierge and rooftop pool. During spring and summer, families can swim in the heated rooftop pool and take in the beautiful views over Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Hyde Park. Grab a tropical smoothie and relax on the cozy loungers while the kids play. When it’s time to eat, you can choose from the hotel’s 3 delicious eateries: patisseries at Cedric Grolet, afternoon tea at The Berkeley Cafe or Mediterranean luxury at La Môme for dinner.

Why Kids Love it

You’ll find plenty of extras for little ones waiting in your suite. Think sweet pâtissiers treats, films and games for family nights in, as well as all the essentials for an effortless stay – from bottle warmers and baby-safe toiletries to highchairs for babies and toddlers. Kids will receive bathrobes and slippers, Jellycat toys, an activity book and the option of an in-room biscuit decorating masterclass (additional fee applies). Babysitting is available on request, and a first-aider and doctor are on call. There’s even a children’s concierge to help you navigate the city and the hotel with kids.

Things to Know

Guests at the hotel can enjoy a temporary membership at the spa, Surrenne Belgravia, for the duration of their stay, including the 22m modern lap pool, a dedicated fitness studio from Tracy Anderson and sense-stirring saunas, aromatic steam rooms and a snow shower. The hotel concierge can help with tickets, child-friendly shows, exhibitions or London attractions. The pool is open 7am to 7pm. It’s around 1 hour from Heathrow airport by train or car.

About the Location

Nestled between Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Hyde Park, The Berkeley is in one of the most desirable areas of London. Visit the dinosaurs at the nearby Natural History Museum, or spend a day exploring Hyde Park where kids can discover amazing playgrounds, outdoor swimming or horseback riding (the hotel can arrange a picnic to take with you). You’ll also be in the right neighborhood to visit Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park - a great park for kids where you can see the changing of the palace guards. The nearest tube station is Hyde Park Corner or Knightsbridge (both 5 minutes’ walk).

Style Notes

Originally a coffee house, it has been a grand hotel since 1897. Renowned interiors architect André Fu created the Penthouses, while Helen Green designed many of the Berkeley Suites. We love the elegant curved seating and sumptuous furniture in The Berkeley Cafe, as well as the stylish striped loungers on the roof terrace.

Knightsbridge, London

Harrods, Hyde Park and the Household Cavalry

Known for its high end shopping streets, Knightsbridge is also great for kids, with Hyde Park a stone’s throw away and plenty of excellent playgrounds and cafes to discover. If you’re in the area at 10.30am daily, look out for the household cavalry galloping towards Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard ceremony. Toy Kingdom in Harrods is another must-see, as are Kensington’s many world-class museums; on a Sunday, you can join a mass family rollerskate group at Hyde Park Corner.
