Perks for the Parents

A gorgeous period townhouse just steps away from the shops and restaurants of Brompton Road in Knightsbridge. It sleeps 6. This house works well for visiting families, with a dedicated primary bedroom and ensuite for parents and the choice of 2 bedrooms on the upper floor for kids. There’s no need to cook - simply choose from the endless eateries on your doorstep - and the host’s property management team can arrange housekeeping, grocery deliveries or anything else you need to help make your stay even easier.

Why Kids Love it

While this home doesn’t come with toys or books for children, it’s centrally located for even the littlest legs. It’s only 10 minutes on foot to reach Hyde Park, which has a choice of playgrounds, horseback riding, open water swimming, child-friendly cafes and an ice rink in winter. The Royal Albert Hall runs regular musical interactive sessions for kids (15 minutes) but the best part about this location is the close proximity to the South Kensington Museums: the V&A, the Science Museum and the Natural History museum are less than 10 minutes’ walk.

Style Notes

Classical elegance. The hosts have chosen rich and traditional colors to decorate this home, with hues of oat and champagne blending well with natural wood materials. The contrasting contemporary kitchen has a warm teal tone and the subtle touches of brass with chandeliers add to the feeling of grandeur. We love the antique artwork on the walls, the cleverly-hidden TV inside the dolls house and the glistening mosaic tiles in the kitchen.

Knightsbridge, London

Harrods, Hyde Park and the Household Cavalry

Known for its high end shopping streets, Knightsbridge is also great for kids, with Hyde Park a stone’s throw away and plenty of excellent playgrounds and cafes to discover. If you’re in the area at 10.30am daily, look out for the household cavalry galloping towards Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard ceremony. Toy Kingdom in Harrods is another must-see, as are Kensington’s many world-class museums; on a Sunday, you can join a mass family rollerskate group at Hyde Park Corner.
