Why Kids Love it

The place is a great option for families, with a large living room and 3 bedrooms to fit large families or those traveling with grandparents or a nanny. A crib, high chair, or baby toys can be provided on request for parents with babies and toddlers. This area is pedestrianized, so it’s safe for families to explore on foot - kids will love watching the boats on the lake and running around in the waterside parks and playgrounds (Giardini del Tempio Volitano or Parco Giochi), not to mention the gelato parlors on the water’s edge. Don’t miss a ride on the cable car railway to see the sights of the city from up high.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. The attic apartment is located on the second floor, with no elevator, and set over 2 floors. The stairs are gated with glass and there are no stair gates so young children should be carefully supervised in this area. There are no car parking spaces here - it’s a pedestrianized area and car rental is not necessary as most things are accessible on foot. The closest public parking spots are a 10-minute walk away. The apartment comes with air conditioning and WiFi.

About the Location

The apartment is located in the center of Como, Italy. It’s 45 minutes’ drive from Malpensa Airport (or 1.5 hours away by train). It’s less than 1 hour away from the city of Milan. This pedestrianized area is a very central position, just a short stroll from shops, restaurants, cafés, and tourist attractions. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from bus stops and the ferry stop on Lake Como, and around 10 minutes’ walk from the train station. From the lake, you can hire a private boat or catch a ferry to explore the towns up and down the lake, or visit the beautiful beach at Lido Villa Olmo, which also has a swimming pool and beach bar.

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Bedroom 1 is on the lower level and has a double bed and ensuite bathroom with curved bathtub; bedrooms 2 and 3 are on the upper level, both have 2 single beds each and share a bathroom with a walk-in shower. A second bathroom is on the upper level and has a tub. The living area has a cozy sofa area and a crystal dining table seating 8. The fully equipped kitchen includes a smaller dining table, plus a washer/dryer and dishwasher. There is also a study/relaxation area leading to a small terrace (with table and chairs) overlooking the rooftops of the city and mountains, as well as a bigger balcony that covers the length of the apartment.

Style Notes

Historic luxury. The penthouse is bright and light, with white walls and neutral colors to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. This recently renovated apartment is full of historic and original style details, such as exposed wooden beams, stone walls, and paneled ceilings, to create a rustic and traditional look. This authentic style is juxtaposed with luxurious golden bathroom fittings and grand Italian artwork as a nod to the rich artistic history of the surroundings. We love the unique mezzanine gallery details, opening up the ceiling in the living area, the warm dark flooring, and the contrasting white Eames dining chairs.

Lake Como, Italian Lakes

Speed boats, pizzerias and lakeside views

Lake Como has hit the headlines as a celebrity spot, full of film stars, rock stars and blockbuster villas. Beside the glitz and glamour, you’ll find plenty of family fun from speed boats to hire to lakeside pizzerias for lazy lunches and the Como/Brunate funicular for vertiginous views of the deep blue lake.

The location of this residence is unbeatable. We loved being in Como Town, which has a terrific pedestrianized shopping area, a beautiful cathedral, and easy access to the ferries around Lake Como as well as the train to Milan. We enjoyed visiting some of the smaller towns around the lake, while returning to our "bigger hometown" that was somewhat less touristy and offered a very wide range of restaurants and shops. The apartment is well suited to a family of four (or more, I'm sure), with room to work, rest, etc in separate spaces. It was very quiet. We ate out so didn't use the kitchen at all, but there are plenty of markets nearby and we could have done that if we'd been in the mood. WiFi was very fast and made it easy to do work. The only hiccup we encountered is that the washer and dryer didn't work during our visit, but a laundromat was just a 10 mins walk away and spotless and easy to use. The management team was incredibly responsive all along the way.
