Perks for the Parents

This pretty cottage has a vast garden around it - ten times the size of the house. It is ideal for a restful vacation with a child under 2. The house is a separate stand alone property within the park of a villa, a 5-minute walk to the lakeshore at Cernobbio, Lake Como. The garden is the highlight, with toys for young kids plus sun loungers, and there are stores and a playground a short walk away.

Why Kids Love it

The residence is great for 1 small child, with only 1 bedroom and space for a crib (provided). The property has some outdoor toys including a slide for young children plus indoor toys and books. Note that there is no separate bedroom or bed for a small child, only a travel crib, so it is best for those with a child under 2. It is easy to walk to restaurants and the lake with a stroller or baby carrier, direct from the residence.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. There are 15 steps up to the property but it is otherwise on one level; a stroller can be stored in the garage and does not have to be taken into the house. Car hire is recommended but not essential. The house is 5 minute walk to the bus, boat or taxi stations. Private parking available on request at the property. It is a 10 minute drive to Como and a 5 minute drive to the Swiss border.

About the Location

The residence is a 5-minute walk from the shore of Cernobbio, Lake Como and is located within the gardens of a larger villa, opposite the Villa d’Este luxury resort. The nearest airport is in Lugano, Switzerland, a 30-minute drive away. The closest train station is in Como San Giovanni, 10 minutes away. There are grocery stores in Cernobbio along with a lakefront playground.

Accommodation Details

There is 1 bedroom with a double bed and a crib, a bookcase, a Mac computer that can be used to watch DVDs or listen to music and a wardrobe. The fully-equipped kitchen has a table seating up to 6 people. The bathroom is tiny with a shower and a half-bathtub. The garden is the main feature, with a meadow with sun lounger and kids toys, a slide, and a space with table, chairs, sun umbrella and Weber BBQ.

Style Notes

The style of the cottage is slightly retro with a dash of classical charm. Every lamp in the house has a story to tell and there are a number of unique pieces. The floor tiles are original mid-1960s items; the walls are hung with modern prints and slogan pictures and there is a collection of books and items from the owners that guests are welcome to borrow. It is light, warm and welcoming.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

Lake Como has hit the headlines as a celebrity spot, full of film stars, rock stars and blockbuster villas. Beside the glitz and glamour, you’ll find plenty of family fun from speed boats to hire to lakeside pizzerias for lazy lunches and the Como/Brunate funicular for vertiginous views of the deep blue lake.

Our stay at the Via Regina Residence was fantastic. Elisabetta is a fantastic host and made sure that everything we needed was taken care of. Upon arrival, she showed us the apartment and the backyard, explaining things as she went along. She provided us with a detailed binder of food in and around Cernobbio and also greeted us with a small bag of pastries from the local cafe and a bottle of Prosecco. The bedroom we were staying in was all set up with the travel cot and in the corner Elisabetta had stacked some books and new toys for our daughter to play with. That became her little play corner during our visit and every time our daughter woke up, she would run to the corner and play with her new (to her) toys. I could go on and on about how wonder Elisabetta and her property are. When we asked Elisabetta about a pool, she offered to make reservations for us. When I mentioned that I had a ton of laundry to do, Elisabetta went out and bought extra clothing pins. When we said we were leaving from Malpensa airport, Elisabetta asked us if we wanted her to book a driver for us. Simply put, stay here if you can! I will always cherish the time we had at the Via Regina Residence and I hope to see Elisabetta again in the future. P.S. Bring bug spray! (The garden is lovely, but mosquito bites are not!)

We had a wonderful time at the Via Regina residence. Such a lovely place and Elisabetta was the best host ever. The apartment was perfect for our family of 3 and our little girl loved the spacious garden and all the toys Elisabetta kindly provided. She gave us all the information that we needed, tons of tips on where to go and even food/drinks. We would definitely go back and highly recommend the place.
