This stunning vacation home is a great spot to visit year-round, with plenty of winter sports options and beautiful green spaces to explore in summer. Parents will love cooking in the chef’s kitchen, which is fitted with top-of-the-range appliances and a breakfast bar for relaxed family dining. There are also multiple primary suites - ideal for sharing with another set of parents or for multi-generational trips - as well as a fun bunk room for kids to share.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will love exploring this fun family home. There’s a dedicated kids lounge with a pool table, darts, ping pong table, foosball and oversized suspended net in the bunk area, as well as board games, toys and 6 TVs around the house to keep everyone entertained. Teens and older kids (with supervision) can also enjoy the hot tub to warm up after busy days hiking in the parks, visiting the waterfalls, skiing, snowboarding or snowmobiling.

Things to Know

The property is managed by a professional concierge company who can assist you 24/7 with any customer service requirements. Rates include a complimentary coffee & tea starter pack, entertainment channels (including Netflix), WiFi and parking for 2 cars in a private garage (plus additional parking on the driveway). The bunk room is set over 2 floors with a spiral staircase, which may not be suitable for crawling babies or toddlers.

About the Location

The residence is located just outside Truckee, close to Lake Tahoe in California. The property lies adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest, 10 minutes’ walk from the South Yuba River waterfalls and 5 minutes on foot from Cisco Grove Gould park. Truckee (40 minutes’ drive) has a children’s museum, bike park, stores, eateries and a regional airport. Skiing is available at Soda Springs (15 minutes), Boreal Mountain (20 minutes), Sugar Bowl (25 minutes) and Olympic Valley (50 minutes). Reno-Tahoe international airport is 1.5 hours away.

Accommodation Details

The cabin has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. On the main level, you’ll find a striking double-height living room, kitchen/dining room, game room and a terrace with a hot tub. The cozy primary suite, with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with bathtub, is also on the main living level, together with the bunk room: 2 queensize beds on ground level, 4 queensize beds on the top bunk, sleeping 12 in total. The second suite, with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom, is upstairs. Also upstairs is bedroom 3 (1 queensize bed) and bedroom 4 (2 double beds) which share a bathroom.

Contemporary cabin. This modern mountain home has been beautifully decorated by the owners, with brand new furnishings and a chic neutral color palette. A stylish open plan kitchen with gleaming stainless steel appliances is ideal for family meals, while the sleek new bathrooms feel fresh and contemporary. We love the sophisticated black-and-white feel of the kitchen/dining room, the traditional patterned rug in the living room and the chunky sliding doors adding a subtle industrial touch.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

And in the winter, the ski stations nearby offer so much for families: tubing, skiing, skating and sledding, plus daycare for kids from two months old.
