About the Location

This villa is just outside the Roman city of Nîmes in the Languedoc-Roussignol region of southern France. Nîmes is home to relics from the Roman Empire including the Roman temple of Maison Carrée and the best preserved Roman amphitheater in France. If you’re here for summer be sure to check out one of France's biggest festivals, Féria de Pentecote, held in Nîmes where you can see bull-fighting, music, concerts and dancing. The region has many vineyards, pretty villages, farmers’ markets, historic sites and rolling countryside to enjoy. We recommend hiring a car to make the most of your location. The nearest international airport is Nîmes Alès Camargue Cévennes Airport.

Style Notes

Sleek French style. This villa, handcrafted by a local carpenter, is both modern and luxurious with clean lines and open spaces. It has been designed with your comfort in mind – there is air conditioning in all the main bedrooms, the studio room and the gym. An underfloor cooling system cools the kitchen, dining room and bedroom off the main suite. A house iPad centrally controls the music system, lights and shutters. We love the large terrace, perfect for family feasts, that overlooks the pool, and the lawn; the wine cellar with a tasting area and a cigar humidor for guests; and the bedroom suite with the hot tub for relaxing in peace and quiet under the stars.

Languedoc-Roussillon, France

From the coast to the mountains

Stretching from the beaches of the Mediterranean coast through the Rhone Valley to the Spanish border and the Pyrenees, the Languedoc covers much of south central France. Discover medieval castles on hilltops in Cathar Country, cycle beside the Canal du Midi, day trip to the busy cities of Nîmes, Montpellier and Perpignan, and take the yellow train up into the mountains of the Pyrenees. With lakes and water parks for swimming, Prehistoric caves and Europe’s largest dinosaur museum to explore, along with pretty fishing villages and beautiful scenery, it’s brimming with family-friendly activities.
