Perks for the Parents

This residence’s central location allows you to explore Lisbon while the garden and generous living spaces provide space for the family to relax while at home. The house has a baby chair, tents and picnic blankets for the garden and 2 dining spaces (one indoor and one outdoor) for up to 8 people. One of the bathrooms has a large bathtub and the other has a shower; a step and potty are also provided for kids.

Why Kids Love it

The house has plenty of toys (for ages 1-5) and books in English, French and Portuguese. It is walking distance from 3 outdoors and 2 indoors play areas. A high chair and a stroller are available. There are tents to use in the garden and a sheep rocking chair. English language children's channels like the UK’s CBeebies and CBBC are available live and through iplayer services.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. There is a €100 security deposit. There is paid parking on the street (free on evenings and weekends) and nearby you can find indoor parking lots. The apartment is on the first floor and there is no elevator. It is no smoking in the house, but smoking is allowed on the verandas and in the garden. Note that this is an old house and there may be some noise from the neighbors. Bedrooms face the street so there is occasional noise, although the street is not very busy. There is a fire escape at the back that children should be kept away from; young children may need supervision on the verandas also. Cleaning services can be arranged for a small fee. There is a microwave in the kitchen and air conditioning in all bedrooms and in the living room.

About the Location

The residence is on a quiet, tree-lined street just to the north of the heart of the city. It is about 20 minutes from the airport and just 3 minutes’ walk to a Metro station and taxi rank with great connections directly to the airport and city. Lisbon's best fresh fish market (also featuring meat, vegetables, a baker and an Italian deli) is at the end of the street. There is a children's play area and a small park (with bandstand and café) across the street and an indoor play area in the nearby shopping center. There are cinemas, brunch places, restaurants (including a gourmet burger and gin place, very popular with families) and shops in the neighborhood.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom apartment with a 90 sqm private garden is on the first floor of a 100-year-old building. The master bedroom has a double bed, ensuite bathroom and small veranda over the street. There is another double bedroom and a children’s bedroom with 1 cot and 1 single bed suitable for ages 2-7, plus a second bathroom. The living/dining room faces the veranda and garden and is connected to the kitchen. The garden has a lawn area, a brick deck with table and chairs, wood oven and orange and lemon trees.

Style Notes

The apartment is light and bright and retains the classic style of early XX century Lisbon houses - high ceilings, stucco details and wooden floorboards. Interesting details punctuate the decor including a large 1835 map of Paris on master bedroom; 1950's vintage furniture in the master bedroom, a wrought iron bath tub with feet; a Smeg 6-burner stove in the kitchen; a roman vase lamp in living room; pigeon lights and a sheep rocking chair in the children's bedroom, and a wonderful 'Fern Living' tent for children to play in in the garden.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We are a Bristish - Portuguese family of four that loves living in Lisbon. Between us we love going to the beach, playing golf, surfing, and exploring the city's restaurants. Past favourite travel destinations include Venice (for wedding anniversaries), Mykonos and India, and we hope to make it to Tokyo and Peru in the (near?) future. This home is in a perfect location, and my family and I really enjoyed walking all over Lisbon. The backyard grassy space is such a huge bonus to staying here. We had breakfast outside a few times during the week we stayed here. We also used the small porch area directly next to the house to sit and have coffee, it was a treat to be able to have this extra space with table and chairs (especially in the mornings and in the evenings) after we had been out and about all day long. We also used the kitchen, the washer and relaxed in the cozy living space. Everything we needed was there, and Joana was responsive, kind and helpful. This trip was a joy!

Our stay in the apartment went very well. It is very pleasant. We particularly appreciate the garden, which, although surrounded by courtyards and buildings (what's more normal in the city? ...) is quite discreet and you feel good there. Rory who welcomed us was very considerate and attentive. The geographical location was also nice, in a pleasant district and very easy to reach by direct public transport (to the airport, city center, nice districts ...).

We had a lovely stay at the Taborda residence for almost a week in July. Joana was incredibly communicative and made sure her housekeeper was there to welcome us when we arrived. She was also responsive to any questions we had during our stay. The apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated--very Parisian feeling, in fact there's a huge map of Paris in the master bedroom. High ceilings, wood floors, enormous windows that look out onto a quiet street. The neighborhood is very upscale and is a short walk to the nearest metro station. Our kids loved the bunk bed and had lots of room to play around. The kitchen has all new appliances and cookware should you need to eat in. Everything was clean and immaculate. It was a pleasure to come home to the apartment every evening.

We had a lovely time staying at the Tabora residence during Christmas week. My two girls (ages 4 and 2) loved the bunk beds and playing with the toys in the kids bedroom. The apartment was very spacious, clean, and there was more than enough room for myself and my husband, our 2 girls and my mother. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and it's a very quick walk to a couple grocery stores. The apartment is also a short walk to the underground and bus stops so was very easy to explore the city. Joana was very easy to contact and responded to messages right away. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Joana was an amazing host. Her home was the perfect retreat for my family. It was extremely clean, but kid friendly at the same time. My 18 month son loved exploring the back garden and enjoyed playing with new toys. The location was perfect to explore the city. Her cleaner also provided us with wonderful meals for two of the nights. It was lovely to come back to a clean apartment and fresh meal at the end of the day. I cannot recommend it enough. It was the perfect summer holiday for our family.
