Perks for the Parents

This handsome Victorian terrace near the Finsbury Park tube station is a great home away from home, sleeping 9. With 3 double bedrooms, kids rooms plus a double loft bedroom, there's space for all the family - or for 2 smaller families traveling together. Play in the nearby parks, shop and eat in North London's upscale high streets and walk down the road to jump on the subwy to explore the rest of London's treasures - Finsbury Park station (for bus, tube or rail) is at the top of the road.

Why Kids Love it

This private family home is great for kids and includes toys, books, games and a nature hut in the garden just for them. The house has a huge range of books, stuffed and toy animals, board games, puzzles, cards, kids DVDs, toy animals, cars, motorbikes, trains, Lego and coloring books. Bedrooms are set up for kids, and the open kitchen-diner makes mealtimes easy. Bathrooms include a tub and shower. Baby items including a changing table and high chair and potties may be available on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The house is on a safe residential road close to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium - when Arsenal play at home, you can hear the crowd roar when they score (but that’s only 20 days a year). Note that there are no stair gates. There is no air-con but the hosts have fans for summer and each room has a radiator. A local babysitter can be recommended on request. Bicycles need to be stowed in the back garden. Parking is controlled and restricted in the street from 8.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Saturday - there are pay and display spaces nearby. Car rental is not essential as public transport is close and efficient, Zip cars are nearby or it's easy to hail taxi services.

About the Location

The house is in Zone 2 and close to Finsbury Park tube station for easy access into Central London. It is on a safe residential road; car hire is not essential with easy transit routes nearby, but if you have one, there is paid parking within a couple of streets. There are plenty of green spaces nearby: Finsbury Park and Clissold Park are within walking distance, while the Emirates soccer Stadium offers tours. Heathrow is the closest major airport to the residence, and is 1 hour 15 minutes by public transport and around the same by car or taxi. London Stansted is just under an hour by car or public transport.

Accommodation Details

This 4-story home has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The ground floor includes a large kitchen diner with dining table seating 10, and a lounge with piano and space to play. There are 5 bedrooms: 2 large double bedrooms (king and queen), a kids room with a high bed and a pull out bed below, another kids room with a single bed, and a loft bedroom with a double bed. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower and double sided bath and there is also a downstairs toilet plus a shower room beside the loft bedroom. There's a laundry room next to bathroom with a washer/dryer plus clothes racks. In the 35ft garden, there is seating, herbs for cooking and a Weber barbecue.

Style Notes

This 4-floored terraced house is a real treasure trove, decorated in muted Farrow and Ball tones with items from around the world. Details include a Moroccan pendant light in the lounge; vintage suitcases under the bed and an unusual gold-panelled fireguard, plus lovely period touches - a Victorian fireplace in the kids room and a set of vintage children’s books. We love the large garden and the eclectic character throughout.

Hi, I'm Nadine and I was born and raised in Islington, North London, where I'm lucky enough to still live, now with my charming Irish husband and two gorgeous children, currently 15 & 11. I've lived abroad for years - Norway, Sydney, and in San Francisco until 2012, where my kids were born. I used to be in film & TV and now work in the travel industry, indulging my passion to explore destinations both new and old. I've always had an adventure every month (apart from those 2 months my kids were born in) and in the last 10 years we have been privileged to visit Costa Rica, Myanmar, Ireland, Morocco, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Malaysia, New York, Belgium, Iceland and France, as well as staycations in England. I've a long wishlist of future destinations too! We always have people to stay; once you've lived abroad then you become everybody's hotel once they swing through town, and many in our respective families live overseas and always come to stay when visiting. So it seemed like a natural fit for us to join Kid & Coe and we were honoured that they invited us to join the site when it launched.

Finsbury Park, London

Diversity, plenty of parks and football

This multi-ethnic neighborhood in North London is 10 minutes by Tube from Oxford Circus and is defined by its parks. People’s parks in the true sense of the word, they invite joggers, dog walkers, nannies with strollers, children and the elderly to enjoy them together. Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is here too.

Thanks so much to Nadine and family! We had a wonderful stay in your very comfortable home. The location is great, just a short walk to a Tube Station that services both the Piccadilly and Victoria Lines, so we were in central London in a flash, and easily connected to Euston station for the Harry Potter studio tour as well. Beds were comfortable and we had plenty of room for a family of 5 plus another couple. We were welcomed with wine and freshly baked bread and fun London books for kids as well as plenty of info on how to operate the house. Kitchen had everything we needed and there was a charming back garden to sit in, in the evening. Plenty of shops nearby as well. Thanks so much and would def recommend this property and would consider again when we return.

Our family of seven (two parents, three kids, and two grandparents) had a fantastic stay at Nadine's home. The house had plenty of room for our group, an amazing kitchen, a beautiful backyard with playhouse, a piano, and tons of books and toys. The location is ideal, just a short walk from the Finsbury Park tube (as well as buses) and there are some good cafes and shops within walking distance as well. Nadine was an amazing host and took great care to ensure we had everything we needed, even leaving us a fresh-baked loaf of bread and some wine. I can't imagine a better place for a family to stay in London.

We had a great time at the St. Thomas residence. Nadine was a great host, baking us our very own fresh loaf of bread and left complimentary wine for our stay. Which we thought was very thoughtful. The eclectic mix of art, quirky interior and huge book collection make it a really interesting home to stay in for both children and adults. We would definitely recommend to others!

We are a family of four (two kids under the age of 6) who thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the St. Thomas residence. For our first trip as a family abroad, it was a perfect place to borrow as our temporary home - gorgeous and comfortable, outfitted with loads of toys and books, and a hop-skip-and-jump away from the Finsbury Park tube station. Unexpectedly delightful bonuses: milkman deliveries to the door and the electric excitement of the Arsenal football club nearby! Nadine was an incredibly generous and thoughtful host, and we would wholeheartedly recommend her residence for any family visiting London.

We stayed here at the end of June this year and it was perfect. We had a large family travel over from Australia for 4 nights stay, and we very happy with everything. Nadine was incredibly helpful from the word go. The house is amazing with plenty of space and activities for the young children. The kitchen had everything you could want. The location was also ideal being 5 min walk from finsbury park tube on the piccadilly line so great for travelling into centre of London for the days activities. Overall we couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a large family accomodation in London.
