This historic vacation home in southern France features its own private pool, baby-friendly essentials and authentic food markets nearby. It sleeps 12 + 2. This large family home is ideal for big families, or parents travelling with a nanny. With 1 room downstairs, and thick walls separating bedrooms, everyone can find their own private space. Parents will love the recently-modernized bathrooms with limestone and rain showers too. The swimming pool is quiet and tranquil, with lots of spacious beautiful gardens to wander around and courtyard areas to sit out and relax. Sample the local wines from nearby vineyards, or spend your days exploring this region’s quaint historic villages - this is the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great house for kids to explore, with quirky features, children’s games, toys and flexible bedroom options. They’ll love the swimming pool (which can be gated for little ones) and the patio area to run around in - there’s even a climbing frame and ping pong table outside. Nearby, Lourmarin has a great playground and has lots of casual eateries for families. Further afield, visit Barben Zoo wild animal park (35 minutes’ drive) or the Adventure Ecopark in Marseille (1 hour away) for tree-top climbing trails.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Pricing includes cleaning. The changeover day is Saturday. The house is best suited to family stays and is not intended for 12 adults. Please note that air conditioning is only available in the bedrooms. Entry to the property is via a private courtyard (which can be gated for younger children) with ample parking space - car hire is recommended to explore the area. The hosts have bikes which guests are welcome to borrow (they are available "as-is". The residence comes with children’s utensils, fireplace guard, high chair, 2 travel cribs, pool gate, dishwasher, washer/dryer, outdoor barbecue, outdoor shower, TV, DVD player and DVD library, and WiFi.

About the Location

This home is located in the small hamlet of Puyvert, just outside Lourmarin in the south of France. This is quiet and rural area - it’s 25 minutes’ walk into Lourmarin (or 3 minutes by car). There is a large supermarket a 3 mins drive away and Puyvert has a small bistro where one can buy croissants and bread in the morning. It also has pizzas to pick up to eat at home, it is about 2 mins walk from house. There are weekly markets in the local towns - each small village has a market on different days of the week. Pertuis (25 minutes’ drive) has larger stores and supermarkets. This area has concerts in the summer months and vineyards to visit nearby. Marseille airport is 1 hour away by car, as are Avignon and Aix TGV train stations. The beautiful azure beaches of the south coast are also less than an hour’s drive.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and powder room. Downstairs there is a living room, dining room (seating 8-10), TV room and kitchen which opens to the patio and leads to the walled garden with pool. There is 1 bedroom downstairs with a 2 single beds (available as 1 kingsize on request) and an ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower. Upstairs, there’s a library plus 5 bedrooms: the garden room has 1 queensize bed and ensuite bathroom with shower; the courtyard room has 1 kingsize bed and a bathroom (with bath) adjacent; the other 3 bedrooms are in a separate wing off the library and share 2 bathrooms. The french room has 1 queensize bed and the castle room and middle room each have 2 single beds.

Style Notes

Historic farmhouse. This beautiful 18th century home is full of traditional Provencal features, with original windows, huge fireplace and stone walls. The hosts have updated and modernized the property over the last 10 years, creating a large modern kitchen, multiple eating areas and contemporary bathrooms, juxtaposed with antique furniture. We love the exposed ceiling in the kitchen, the colorful painted window shutters, and the stunning double height hallway creating a sense of space.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
