A beautiful historic farmhouse between Saint Rémy and Avignon in the south of France, with a private heated swimming pool and a quirky kids room. It sleeps 12 + 2. Ideal for families but also great for design-loving parents, this charming house is the epitome of Provencal style - full of chic antiques and understated subtlety, recently renovated to include luxurious bathrooms and top-of-the-range bedding to ensure a good night’s sleep after your journey. With 5 spacious bedrooms (and a fantastic mezzanine kids room for siblings or friends) it’s ideal for 2 families traveling together or parents vacationing with grandparents or a nanny. During summer, you can relax around the tranquil pool or visit the picturesque local villages for French delicacies. In the cooler months, huddle up around the feature fireplace in the open plan living space.

Why Kids Love it

The house has toys and books for all ages, as well as a large garden to play football and other lawn games. The bedrooms are quirkily named to remind them of school - Histoire, Sport, Français, Sciences or Géographie - so they can choose their room based on their favorite subject! They’ll also love splashing around in the swimming pool, or for days out, they’ll enjoy a day out to Spirou Parc amusement park (half an hour’s drive) and a ride on the Ferris wheel in Avignon (20 minutes away). Parents with toddlers or babies will be happy to find all the essentials for little ones, including: a crib, a travel crib, high chair, playpen, bathing chair and baby monitor. The hosts can also provide a stroller, car seat and baby sling on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights from September to June; 7 nights in July and August. Safety notes: there are stair gates, secured with a barrier, and there’s also a safety barrier for the swimming pool. The pool is not heated. The house is air conditioned throughout. The children's room has 2 beds on the mezzanine, for children over 6 years old only. Ask the hosts about arranging activities during your stay, such as yoga, dance, Zumba, floral creation workshops, private catering, babysitters, creative workshops for children or wine tours. There is a City Tax of €2 per adult per day that must be paid directly to the host upon check in.

About the Location

The house is located 12 minutes’ drive from the Avignon TGV train station, close to Saint Rémy de Provence in the south of France. The popular villages of Maillane (10 minutes’ drive) and Saint Rémy (less than 15 minutes’ drive) are filled with picture-perfect quaint architecture, delicious bakeries and traditional food markets. You can also walk to Chateaurenard (20-30 minutes’ walk) where there is a cinema, restaurants and shops. The hosts can provide a list of kid-friendly restaurants and easy walks in the mountains nearby. There’s plenty to do within easy reach: visit pretty Provencal villages (some of them have pedestrianized city centers), amusement parks, outdoor cultural sites, and the beaches along the Mediterranean coast - all within an hour’s drive. It’s 50 minutes from Marseille Provence airport.

Accommodation Details

The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The living space consists of an open plan living room, dining room and kitchen, complete with patio doors which lead to an outdoor dining area. The primary bedroom boasts a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom (with walk-in shower), and there are 3 more queensize bedrooms for adults or kids. The children’s bedroom has 4 single beds (2 on ground level and 2 up on the mezzanine) plus 1 crib. Each bedroom has its own bathroom (including 1 on the ground floor with a walk-in shower). There’s also a separate utility room with washer/dryer. Outside, there’s a large dining table, BBQ, a seating area and sun loungers around the swimming pool.

Style Notes

Farmhouse chic. This 200m2 Provençal farmhouse was built in the 19th century and has just been renovated to create the perfect spot for family holidays. Warmly decorated in a vintage style, all the furniture is second hand or antique, sourced from local flea markets or inherited from family. Each room has its own style: the children’s room uses soft and soothing décor to create a calm space to relax, while the adult guest rooms use deep blue and green hues to create a welcoming feel. We love the stunning original fireplace in the living room, the rustic hairpin leg coffee table and the striking black tiled bathroom.

Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

With 3 children, going on vacation has sometimes been a headache or even a source of stress: will there be enough to heat the bottle? how am I going to be able to give her a bath? is the staircase secure? Picture-perfect Provence

This picture-perfect Provencal town, 10 minutes drive from Saint Remy de Provence, has streets of pretty stone houses, old doors and narrow lanes, and is in a great location for exploring the area. Avignon, Nimes and the Camargue are all an easy drive away, while Les Baux de Provence and its castle is just a 25-minute drive away and sure to captivate children's imagination.

We are a family of 4 with 2 small children and this was the most perfect holiday for each and every one of us!! Marie, Ben and their family were really personable hosts and welcomed us so very warmly. They ensured we had everything we needed and were extremely responsive if we needed anything at all. The property is absolutely beautiful, spacious, homely and so tastefully styled. We also had every facility we possibly needed in the kitchen to make some amazing meals from local markets. The pool entertained the kids for hours and was safely gated and very well kept. The kids also loved the twin children's room with bunkbeds, complete with a dressing up box and cars. We really liked that there is a specific ground area to play Boules! The area of St Remy du Provence was lovely on a Wednesday where they have a large market of fresh produce and other items. Carrieres de Lumieres is also a special interactive experience. We loved L'Isle - sur-la-Sorgue for antiques (Check days shops open and market day). The whole experience was truly wonderful with lovely memories and many thanks once again to Marie and her family. x

We booked the Chemin Des Masques Residence for a week in August, with my two sisters and their families and my mother. We were 7 adults and 6 children and we fit perfectly. The mezzanine bedroom was perfect for our older kids. Everyone appreciated that three of the five bedrooms were en-suite and there was also a half bathroom by the entrance. The layout was lovely with an open kitchen that opened onto a charming outside dining area, grassy area and fenced swimming pool. There was no shortage of towns to visit - we went to Avignon, Arles, the Camargue. St. Remy de Provence was the closest and very family friendly with a carousel and playground. There was a very big grocery store five minutes drive away and lots of restaurants. We had a chef one night and Marie kindly organized a housekeeper to do a few hours every morning which really helped as there was a lot of mouths to feed and a busy kitchen. Marie was so helpful and responsive with any questions we had. It was great value and we all loved our holiday there. Thank you Marie! x

We've just returned from a fantastic week at Marie's beautiful property, The Chemin des Masques Residence. The house was clean on arrival, spacious and beautifully decorated. The ensuite bathrooms make the bedrooms extra private and comfortable. The main bathroom upstairs is perfect for kids. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use/clean. The back garden and the swimming pool was a hit for both kids and adults. The garden had plenty of space to run around, gorgeous flowers and a perfectly green, mowed lawn. Marie and her husband are welcoming, hospitable and kind hosts. We highly recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate staying again!
