Located proudly in front of 100-year-old plane trees, this very private home is perfect for families traveling together or multi-generational trips: it’s divided into 2 parts (with 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, and 10 bedrooms split across each side of the house) so it works well for group vacations where everyone needs their own space. Spend your days relaxing on the shady terrace, visiting traditional Provençal villages nearby or playing with the kids in the pool.
Why Kids Love it
This is the perfect place for kids to enjoy the Provençal countryside. The surrounding landscape is very safe and rural, with many trails accessible from the house for walks, jogging or cycling. Kids can play table tennis, ride the swing or play out on the lawn. Indoors, they can also play with the darts and foosball table. They’ll also love the pool! For day trips, take the family to visit the beach: the wild beaches of Saintes Maries de la Mer, capital of the Camargue, are closest (around 1 hour away) and the creeks of Cassis are 1.5 hours away by car.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 5 nights in low season, 7 days in mid/high season, 14 days is preferred in August. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). Safety notes: the garden is secure but not fenced in - the area is very rural so security is not a concern. The large swimming pool is protected by an alarm. Pets are welcome but please check with the host when booking. The hosts can provide a travel crib. The house comes with WiFi, satellite TV (French and English channels) and a bluetooth audio system. The bedrooms in the second part of the house do not have air conditioning.
About the Location
The villa is located just outside Maillane in Provence, France. Nestled in the heart of the Alpilles regional natural park, it’s a great spot for enjoying nature and the great outdoors, yet it’s just a few minutes’ drive into the popular village of Maillane (or half an hour’s walk) and within easy reach of St Rémy de Provence (5 minutes’ drive). It’s close to exceptional sites such as the Baux de Provence, the Alpilles regional park, the Vaccarès pond, the Lac du Barreau lake (for relaxing and fishing) and the Ocres de Roussillon. The beautiful town of Aix en Provence is around 1 hour away by car, as is Marseille (for the international airport). Avignon is the nearest city, which offers cinemas, art galleries, shopping malls and children’s entertainment, as well as the TGV train station (25 minutes’ drive).
Accommodation Details
This residence has 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The house has 2 sides, with 2 sets of stairs at each end creating different access points to the upper floor. Ground floor: The 2 living rooms and 2 well-equipped kitchens open onto a terrace overlooking the garden, with a dining table that seats more than 20 guests. This floor has 2 queensize bedrooms, each with a private shower room, separate WC and air conditioning. On the second side of the house on the ground floor, there’s also a kingsize bedroom. Upper floor: a queensize bedroom (with private shower room, separate WC and air conditioning), and 2 kingsize bedrooms (both with private bathrooms, separate WC and air conditioning). On the second side of the house, there are 4 more bedrooms which share a bathroom with separate shower and bathtub: 1 queensize room, 1 double room and 2 kingsize rooms. Outside there are deckchairs around the swimming pool and plenty of space to sit in the shade or sun.
Style Notes
Modern farmhouse. This home blends classic Provençal style with contemporary touches to suit the needs of modern families. The hosts have chosen bright colors in some rooms, and contrasting elegant pastel colors in other rooms, so that each part of the home has a different character. There are 2 welcoming fireplaces to huddle around on cozy evenings, and the authentic Provençal wooden furniture creates a relaxed, farmhouse-style look. We love the sleek contemporary kitchen (a unique touch for this region), the traditional arched windows (with charming wooden shutters) and the beautiful landscaped gardens.
