Perks for the Parents

This gorgeous hillside home in central Malibu is a 5-minute drive to the beach and comes with tons of beach, surf and skate equipment, bikes and toys and books for kids aged 6 and up. It sleeps 7. It’s a great family space with a full chef’s kitchen, outdoor dining for 8 and indoor dining for 6. The primary bedroom has vaulted ceilings and sweeping canyon views. The cheerful office works well as a games room or puzzle hub, while the sitting room makes the perfect place to curl up with a book post surf. A downstairs den with walk-out to a lower terrace can easily sleep an additional guest on the oversized down couch but it also makes a great spot to sink in for family movie night. You won’t be far from excellent dining, and grocery and specialty stores.

Why Kids Love it

This residence is a 5-minute drive to Latigo Beach and is close to surfing and skate parks. Kids will enjoy the garage full of bikes and boards and a casita playroom brimming with toys and crafts, plus a huge collection of Lego and playmobile. Out and about, there are plenty of hikes right outside the front door including one of the best and most popular hiking spots in Malibu. The historic Malibu Pier is a popular family spot where you can enjoy fishing and a stroll or visit The Getty Villa, a replica of a 1st-century Italian villa with ancient art from Greece and Rome. There’s also outdoor shopping, eating and playing at the Malibu Country Mart.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Please note that this home is built into the mountain, so it has many flights of stairs that are ungated. This may not be a suitable residence for toddlers or those with limited mobility. There is parking on the pad in front of the home and along the street. The nearest airport is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), approximately 1 hour away by car. The use of a car is recommended to get around and enjoy your location.

About the Location

This beach house is located in Central Malibu, California, a short distance from the coast and the Coral Canyon Park. It’s close to restaurants and boutiques at Cross Creek and Malibu Lumber Yard, as well as the local library, Sunday farmers’ market and playgrounds. Latigo is the nearest beach and is known for its consistent waves, making it a favorite spot for surfers and bodyboarders. It also has picnic tables and barbecue pits. Other beautiful beaches are nearby including Zuma Beach and Paradise Cove. Hiking trails in the Santa Monica mountains are in abundance and you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is on 4 levels. There are multiple terraces and hang out spaces. The main living room has a fireplace with double French doors to the garden and comes with its own bar. A chef’s kitchen is fully equipped. The upstairs bedrooms are 1 kingsize and 1 kids’ room with 2 twin / single beds. They share a family-size bathroom with a soaking tub and shower. The office can also double up as a games room. There is a downstairs den that leads to a lower terrace. A single sofabed and a double sofabed can sleep an additional 3 guests if required.

Style Notes

Sophisticated beach house. This bright and light, classic Spanish revival home feels welcoming and comfortable while being elegant and grown-up. The décor is refined with a white sofa, glass vases of shells and matched lamps in the main living room. Original artworks and eclectic sculptures are dotted around. Pale oak floors and Saltillo tiles run throughout, softened with wool rugs collected from travels across the globe. We love the peek-a-boo Pacific Ocean views, the stunning tiled fireplaces, and the Spanish-style tiled bar in the living room for whizzing up a cocktail for the terrace.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
